I picked up one similar from Ebay the other week as a gift for my friend Andre and paid $59.50 for it. This one had a nice silver band and a very chunky amber stem and I think dated from 1907 or thereabouts. The case was in very good condition which is unusual and the only thing missing was the screen for the bottom of the bowl. Those styles of pipe has a nasty habit of clogging if you don't fit a screen in the bottom of the bowl. You can get some very interesting buys if you look around on the auction platforms.
A lady here at work gave me her deceased husbands CPF meerschaum that was apparently handed down from the guy's grandfather. It's a straight billiard. Not a bad looking pipe.
