My buddy, Dave J, picked up this trio of Comoy's Blue Ribands at the recent Kansas City show. They were all in spectacular condition and just need the lightest of touch ups.

Unfortunately, one has what looks to be a replacement stem. I left my lighted loupe on the last time I used it, so I don't have magnification until I pick up some new batteries. Zoomed in on my phones camera, I'm certain that this the stem is a replacement. A good one, but a replacement. The tenon seals the deal. Still, it should be a great smoker.

It's close, that's why I say it is a good replacement stem, but not quite as refined on the steps. It also lacks the metal reinforcing ring. Here's the tenon from one of the other pipes.

Interesting. I have a 3-part C Comoys Sandblast with a stem that I think looks more like the first picture(replacement).
I'll have to look again when I get home.

I am aware of two people who can duplicate the Blue Riband 3 piece stem perfectly. I wouldn't be surprised if there are others.

Here's the Reborn Pipes entry on the trio and the finished pipes. The oxidation was a bit more stubborn that I thought at first blush.

Enjoyed the writeup on Reborn.

I hadn't realized the billiard shape was a 66..Liverpool.

Same as my Sandblast. I've really grown to enjoy the shape and it's smoking qualities. Best $4 Pipe I've ever bought.
