A big thank you and my first taste of Latakia

First and foremost, a huge thank you to "pagan" for the box in the mail today. It was unbelievably so much more than I dared imagine. This brotherhood of the pipe is amazingly generous.
Among the goodies in the box was a tin of Captain Black "Black Sea" blend. According to the description, a blend of golden and black cavendish with just the right amount of latakia. I've never smoked anything with latakia in it so I was curious. My review will be very short and to the point.
Upon opening, the tin note kinda felt like being hit in the face with a shovel
Undeterred, I packed a bowl and lit up.
About halfway through, I swore that someone took that same shovel and now hit me in the back of the head with it...This stuff is a hand grenade.
I guess my newbie palette is just too fragile, but there will not be any latakia in my foreseeable future. How do you guys do it? LOL

Give it time. Seriously ... jar it and come back to it later.

It may take a bit of time. A year from now you may come back to it and love it, or you could just not be a latakia person. Regardless, happy smokin!

Now take that 1Q and sprinkle just a little of that Black Sea in it to spruce it up! Not all of it, just a bit set aside as something to switch off to.  And let the whole mix dry out a bit.
