Boy I thought yesterday was dismal but today is more so with the addition of rain.
Last night I smoked my 50/50 VA/Bur blend in the MM Diplomat with plum Forever Stem and it did not give me it's usually fine smoke. A quick look at the inside of the bowl showed the caked had constricted it enough the need a good reaming so I obliged it to my satisfaction.
Today I gave it a test smoke with some Wessex Campaign and the smoking life of the MM Diplomat was once again on par so my smoking life was now good again despite weather conditions.
I was putzing along hither and yon on the web when a pipe listed as a banjo shape appeared. Not quite a Bulldog, nor a Rhodesian, shape but more or less banjo shaped.
Maker is Torben Dansk listed as a Brage Rustic Banjo. I knew nothing about Torben Dansk so I Sherlock Holmes sleuthed the inter webs hoping to unearth some information.
I quickly found other pipesters had been in the same position and several discussions on several forums reveal much information. Seems the pipe was offered by Torben Hetler and appeared in the 70's in the Pipe Dan Catalog.
The maker of the pipe was not Mr. Hetler but none other than Poul Winslow and the price was less than 1 Ulysses S Grant, heck anyone with the moniker banjo has to have a banjo shape pipe in his quiver so by next week I will, I can feel the dismal weight leaving my shoulders. :D Happy Puffing.
