I recently won a Winslow pipe on ebay which has a 9 mm filter. Can the pipe be smoked as is without the filter or do I need an adapter? Where can I purchase an adapter if needed?

You can just smoke it without a filter or an adaptor, I have several pipes that are made for filters and they smoke great, I also have pipes with adaptors and they smoke great, some people even reckon that filter pipes smoke better and have a better draw without filters.

If this is a paper or balsa wood filter, which I assume it is, you can just throw it away. Shouldn't need an adapter. If it does, I'd check with Winslow. :puffy:

But each pipe s different sometimes the draw is too open without something in there. A piece of balsa is often adequate, you can get those from Savinelli.

You can smoke it without a filter, just make sure you clean the moisture from the fillter chamber afterwards. But you should try to buy some 9mm filters and try... It can sometimes tame blends you otherwise didn't get on with.
Cheers
