Just thought I'd post for those looking to stock their cellars because you can essentially buy $5-8 tins all day long.

Edit: 50 tins to choose from but there's some good options in there. Screenshot_20230621_121745_Chrome.jpg

At first this looked tempting, until further reading.

Not trying to pick on anyone, just stating fakes when marketing, even online eCommece, you don’t falsely advertise.

The website Home page ad says;

$5 P&C Cash With Every Tin Purchase.

And it’s not every tin, this is misleading advertisement.

It should of said;

$5 P&C Cash With Only Select Tin Purchases.

And of course reading this I assumed all their tins, had this $5 deal, they don’t, it’s barely 2 pages on the site, of a few blends.

And, it also falsely advertises saying;

Over 50 Tins To Choose From.

I just counted, there were only 48.

I will not buy from a business that falsely advertises products to consumers, it’s actually illegal.

Thumbs down to P&C! 👎

I guess they don’t seem to realize in eCommerce this ad is illegal.

P&C might state somewhere else later on the website, like this ad, that now says on ‘Qualifying Purchases’, but you still can’t legally/partially deceive either. That could also be considered ‘Switch & Bait’, which is illegal.

Bottom line, it’s not complicated, to have switched the wording in the Home Page ad, and be honest about it. ;)

It says pretty clearly there "over 50 tins to choose from".

They're saying $5 with every tin purchased, aka it's repeatable. Not $5 on overall purchase. They wanted to be clear that if you buy 10 tins, you get 10 rebates.

To be clear, the sale tins cost you the price listed, not the price listed -$5.
You do not get credited the $5 until you buy more product, later on.
Correct. Which would be a concern if any of us had self control and didn't make thank purchases once a month lol.

I’m only going off the 2 pages listed, that this Home page link takes you to. Then the wording Bonus with the Star, listed on the left of the tins. Then when you click on these tins, there is a Bonus Tab listed below, to further click on.

Regardless...

The wording on the Home page ad says Every.

Now look at other tins through out the website, there is no Bonus Tab on these tins.

And I’m talking about $5 every tin, so maybe it could be, but why point to only two pages, showing Bonus listed on these and not all the others...

Anyhow, maybe it’s an honest mistake on their part.

I'm pretty much done buying pipe tobacco. I'll try a new tin here and there, or scarf up a real bargain on something exceptional, like those vintage Castello tins they had at SmokingPipes. I suppose that if there are tins in that "sale" selection that you'd buy anyways, then this might be a deal for you. But the "sale" prices on the tins that I might buy didn't look like a sale at all.

This "sale" didn't look deceptive to me at all. It was spelled out pretty clearly, IMHO. I just didn't see that it was much of a sale at all on things that I might be interested in.

Just be aware that those P&C Cash codes that you get are usually only good for 3-6 months. Not that it would be too much of a problem using them, but they do have a short expiration date. Just a heads up if you plan on holding them for a sale on your fav blenders.

You're way overthinking this.

I also just added 1 Bonus discount blend to the shopping cart, and it shows a $5 savings.

Now, add a different blend that is not from the two bonus pages, and check out your savings in the shopping cart.

This does not show the $5 savings. People could argue you’ll see it at checkout, but before a checkout people would like to see their sub total.

I’m not overthinking, it just said ‘Every’ and I’m not seeing that, even when I add items in the cart.

Look at the Shopping Carts above, sure, maybe the savings isn’t showing up till later, until you actually checkout.

But I also checked out as a Guest, just with 1 tin, and it does not show a $5 savings.

I get what you are saying here, and it is a little deceptive, however, that "savings" that they are showing you is what the supposed retail amount they have the tin listed for. Case in point:

1687370919998.png

If you subtract their "MSRP" from their price, the savings they list is $2.26. That "savings" is always listed on all the cart summaries. I guess they want you to feel good that you are saving $$$. But all of us TAD suffering pipers know full well how to score the best deals.

The Mallard Flake tin might be an anomaly since it doesn't look like it has a listed MSRP.

That is not how the 2 pages you click on is Marketed, they clearly show Bonus with a Star next to the tins and then a Bonus Tab at the bottom, further showing a $5 savings.

Now we are supposedly subtracting $5 of of MSRP, look at the checkout pic above, that does not show $5 off either.

Just look at my pics above, it should clearly show a $5 savings somewhere there is all, and at the last one on checkout it doesn’t that’s all...

I went all the way through the checkout, which now shows the complete sale amount and no $5 savings listed.

So I am only saying, as the other Bonus Tins clearly show a $5 savings as I showed in the cart above, this doesn’t, that’s all, and it shouldn’t be shown now different.

Seriously, I’m not here to stir up trouble for them or anyone, but just don’t advertise things so confusing either.

This check out pic here, should clearly show a $5 savings, that is all, nothing more, not $2.26.

I've had a good bit of experience with P&C, both as a customer and as a vendor company representative. This kind of confusion is par for the course.

I agree with you that the wording is not clear. People seem to be reading it the way P&C is hoping they would, thankfully for

What @PipeIT is pointing out is that someone reading it at face value could find themselves disappointed or even deceived.

You're way too into the weeds on this.

- It's "over 50 tins to choose from" and "$5 P&C cash with every purchase" when you purchase those aforementioned tins in the promotion.

- You don't get $5 savings on any other tin.....just the ~50 tins listed on the promotion page.

- With every tin you order, you will get a little laminated card with a coupon code worth $5 in your box.

- Tins not on that page....get this......are not part of the promotion. If you see savings listed on tins outside of those 50, it's because they're "below MSRP" or some other promotion and of no relevance.

That's it lol.

Did you read what I am trying to point out?

Yes, it does take use to a Promotional page, so we have to then assume it’s only that page.

I get it, but I’m trying to make you see, that the Home Page ad doesn’t word it like this.

F1107007-6262-4744-B89B-B88BFB1E9B82.jpeg

So please try to follow what I am saying. I’ve been talking about the ‘Wording’ all along, and it’s not difficult for a business to do so.

The ad then on the Home page should of read instead;

$5 P&C Cash With Every Tin Only On The Promotional Page.

The ‘Wording’ on that ad says ‘Every Tin’, and there is a big difference here. This can be read to imply every tin on the website.

I also never said anyone was being intentionally deceptive either, I only stated this is false advertising, this is not the correct way, that’s all.

Marketing in the USA, at some point has to specify.

And, unless, any one of us personally knows a business, then it can be hard at times, what those intentions are when a business markets like this.

I hope I have made myself more clear now. :)
