Hi all.
I've recently taken up pipe-smoking. However, there's not much available in my home town for tobaccos other than OTC brands. Which are ok, but I'd like to experience more.
My question is this: I've talked to people in Ontario and Western Canada who have used and loved 4noggins, but I can't seem to find anyone who lives in the Atlantic Provinces (More specifically NB) who may have ordered from there. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me do you have issues with customs, duties, taxes, etc?
Any help here would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. As sparks said 4noggins is very experienced with these issues and can give you information. I've been sampling some of their English house blends and they are very good. Good luck and check in often.

4noggins ships worldwide. Plus duty in atlantic Canada is the cheapest, customs is at the border so there's only certain points across canada that it's sent to before it will be sent to your province. So it doesn't really matter where in canada you are. Your best bet is keeping your orders 200 grams or less.

Always had great service and I'm in NS. Fast shipping and excellent house blends. I would recommend rich in a heartbeat. But yes be prepared to pay duty, you might luck out you might not...but even if you do it still usually works out to be cheaper than a Canadian B&M. I try to keep my orders under 200g and spread my orders out over time. Either way you will get some great tobacco at either a much lower or slightly lower price than domestic.

Living in Winnipeg, I found that customs/duty varied greatly according to who was the official I dealt with. If it was anyone male, 35 and over, and possibly a pipe smoker himself, I would get a smile, and he'd push it over the counter to me, and that was that. The younger the official, the higher the rate, as they no doubt had to demonstrate how vigilant they were in the service of Her Majesty, and this would be determined by the dollar value of the fees collected. The worst were young adult women, and once after showing a receipt from the previous time, and being told "when you work on the side of the counter then you'll know something," I asked to see her supervisor. I registered a complaint, and showed the receipt, and this was the amount I paid.

Thank you, Alex. This was the answer I was really looking for. I appreciate everyone's replies, regardless, but this answers the specific question I had.

Additionally, try Blatter & Blatter in Montreal. Since they're in Canada, it may be easier dealing with them. They also make some great pipes and blend some excellent tobaccos.

No problem. I'll second the Blatter & Blatter, every time I visit my parents in Montreal I stop in. Very first blend I smoked was their Executif, excellent blend. I also have a couple of pipes and they are good smokers.

Thanks for the tip on Blatter & Blatter guys. I'll check them out for sure. Since my sister lives in Montreal, she could be my personal mule! LOL
