Four years ago this pipe entered my rotation and became a favorite. I tell people it is a French made Mysterio. For all I know it is a French OTC. (But it weighs nothing leading me to believe it has good briar) It is only marked France in block letters, but has a polished area just begging a stamp, which leads me to believe it is either a second or one slated to be stamped with a private label. Any guesses would be happily researched. In any case it is going nowhere just because it smokes so well. (Sorry they are blurry pics - long story.)

Hmmm ... a bit off, if I were to judge by the band I could have sworn it was an Italian manufacturer ...

Madox, why Italian? Their 'colours' are green, white and red. Matey says they are red, white and blue which are the colours of France. Plus the pipe is stamped thus.

Jay.

Don't have any definitive handle on this. If I had to guess, of the French brands I know and own, I'd guess it's a Chacom, which seems to have some of the more traditional designs. Second guess might be a Butz-Choquin. The brand stamp might have been where the pipe has been buffed down, or it could be a second, and not necessarily of a current or especially known brand.

Does it seem like they are 3 solid colors as a band on the stem or perhaps a decal on the stem. I thought I had a GBD americana mad in France that looked like that but I havent' seen it so it may be in the to sell pile.

It appears they are three separate acrylic plates approximately 1/8 of an inch thick that have been laminated together, attached to the tenon of the mouth piece (it comes off with/attached to the mouthpiece which seems a standard fishtail,)then shaped at same time - not a paper nor plastic decal. It does look like the Frontiac stripes, but the red is closer to the stem as opposed to the blue being in that position on the Frontiac.
