Im getting back in the hobby and 2 Pipes, a Stanwell and a Savenelli I want to dedicate to certain tobaccos. I was thinking of getting a third pipe to just try out any new tobacco that I got. Saw this at P&C for 69.00 bucks. Any thoughts or experiences with these? I know I'm on the verge of PAD but this may be a good deal for my present needs and budget.
Thanks - Toadshade

I bought a a sampler awhile ago that came with a pouch of tobacco, a tool, and one of there cheaper briar pipes, which I believe is similar to these. Nice looking pipe and it smokes ok, but the draw on it is wide open. You need to pack it super tight just to get any kind of resistance to your draw.

If that 3rd pipe is just gonna be for sampling, why not consider a corncob. I like the Mark Twain, because its chamber

walls are thick, so you can safely enlarge the chamber diameter with either sandpaper or a rotary tool. Since the cob

costs only $9.00, that leaves enough money for you to buy 6 tins of tobacco to smoke in it! :D

That's a good idea Cortez. After I posted this I thought of it too and I think I'll do it. I can shift my PAD to TAD while satisfying both!

Good suggestion, although I don't know why one would have to enlarge the chamber on it as it's quite sufficient as is. Also, the Country Gentleman is a great choice and one of my favorites (I have three). Either way, you can't lose especially when they are matched up with a Forever Stem.
