Does anyone know where I could buy 3 Stars Safety Matches? I consider them the best matches around, but the tobacco store I usually get them at now only sells those terrible green Diamond matches. A web store would be preferable. What brand of match does everyone here use?

I've never heard of 3 Stars Safety Matches, but, then I don't get around much. I use "those terrible green Diamond matches", the "strike anywhere" type. I like being able to light my matches whenever/wherever I wish. Not sure why you think they are so terrible...

The Green Diamond ones that I've been getting are "strike on box", not "strike anywhere". I, too, would prefer the latter, but I have yet to find them in any store I've looked in lately.

I, too, use Green Diamond purchased at local Kroger's. They only strike on the box for me.
I would love to find the old-time strike anywhere matches. I'd be a regular buyer.
I don't use a lighter on my pipes.

I bought a 3 pack of green diamond strike anywhere kitchen matches. They are the long ones. I think maybe 3 inches. They came in giant boxes. They have lasted me for probably 7 years. Although to be honest with you they really don't strike anywhere. In fact they barely strike at all unless it's on the box. I hear that's supposed to have made them safer. It's a crock just buy the strike on box kind and they burn just fine. Just let that sulfer tip burn off first.
Here are the strike anywhere ones:

I think the old Diamond strike anywhere matches were blue tipped. The new greenies are horrible, and useless in damp weather. They won't ignite if they soak up humid air.

I think the strike anywhere are ill eagle now, because of terrorist.
Not around here.... picked up 3 boxes last week. Interesting to note that the new Diamond Greens come 300/box, and the older ones (red) were 250/box. Don't remember what I paid for the older ones, however.

Just looked at the Redbird site. Holy crap! $4.80/box of 250, plus shipping? Dang! I'll stick with the Diamonds @$1.70/box of 300, off the shelf. At least around here...

I get the Penley strike anywhere matches at the local Dollar Store. They work fine and I like them better than Diamond matches. They sell 3 packs for one dollar.

I pay about $1.50/box of 250 at a small grocery store down the block from me. For some reason they're pricey online.

Werdna: The blue tip matches you remember were Ohio Blue Tips, Diamond matches used to be red. The Ohio Blue Tip matches were the best ever! I have a case of 30 match packs from 1952, they strike literally anywhere. Unfortunately I can't use those every day, because they are no longer manufactured. Diamond bought them in the late '80's and immediately shut them down.
Assaad: I like those Redbird matches too, the reason I like Three Stars better is because of the smell. Redbirds have a stronger sulphur smell than the Three Stars, which smell almost sweet. Thank you for the link, I have never seen them in that bulk before.
Phil22: I didn't know Penley was still in business! I will have to check around, they used to be pretty good.
Checotah: They used to be good matches until they changed their formula 2 years ago. But now they smell and are hard to light, even on the box. The main reason I don't like Diamond is for killing off Ohio Blue Tips.
Here is a photo of a Three Stars box:
