I appreciate this time of year as an opportunity to take stock and express thanks.
I'm thankful that my health is steadily improving. I'm thankful for the love of an amazing, smart, funny, and sexy woman. I'm thankful that my son is finding success in school and as a budding reviewer. I'm thankful that my family is well, especially after the losses over the past several years. I'm thankful for work, that I'm still able to do what I love, despite being in a field that is very agist. I'm thankful for a roof over my head, for food on the table, that all material needs are met. I have enough. None of this do I take for granted. It can be taken at any moment. So I give thanks for what I've received.
Anyone have thanks they would like to offer?

Family, some health, energy, an interesting location in which to live, and an ardent sense of curiosity that has unfolded so many things outside my areas of work life and my own immediate culture -- those points of gratitude among hundreds of others (thousands?) that I discover as I go along, many of which I was previously unaware.

I am thankful that life is fleeting and our time here is finite. I'm thankful for family, but only just so. I'm thankful for sleep and days when the pain is manageable. I'm thankful for fentanyl and oxymorphone. I'm thankful for my flatscreen and satellite TV. I'm thankful for my feline companion Tivo. That's about it :) oh and I'm thankful for Macallan 18, Esoterica Tobacco, and Monticristo #2's

I am thankful for the ongoing failure of illusion, the restoration of realism and of course, Cornell & Diehl Burley blends.

I'm thankful I found out how bad Lakeland blends are early in my pipe smoking career.
Seriously, I'm thankful for my job, my health, my family, and friends. Things have finally turned for the better for me and I'm very thankful to be so blessed right now.

Thankful right now that my 77 year old Grandfather survived 2 brain stem strokes, is walking, talking, and laughing with me. Thankful for my grandmother, 70 years old, hoping her gall bladder removal goes well. Also, thankful that she bought me some great stuff at the antique store this weekend...that's my selfish one.
Also, thankful deathmetal always has the perfect answer for everything to make you chuckle a little.

I have no answer for Lakelands except to say that Mixture 79 seems palatable in comparison... ;)

Thankful that I start a new job in a week. Hopefully this is "the one" and I can settle!

I'm thankful for the great friends that I've made here and throughout the pipe world over the past few years. I'm thankful that I'm able to return the kindness, thoughfulness and generosity shown to me. And, like John said: Everything else.

Family, friends and an amazing person to share the trials and tribulations and joys in life with. Success to the point of being able to provide on some level for all the aforementioned, and allow me to have just enough of what I desire to make life enjoyable. I couldn't really ask for more than that.

Thankful for my great health and the health of all my family, thankfully that I get to spend another thanksgiving holiday with my 94 year old grandfather and 92 year old grandmother... I'm thankful that my kids are all good kids, I'm thankful that my best friend of 20 years is no longer suffering (this ones a bit sad, but he's in a better place).... And last but not least, I'm thankful for you bunch of knuckleheads on this forum, it's the only social interwebs thing that I really participate in.

What a good idea, gearing up before the "official" day of thanks!
I am thankful for surviving emergency surgery this Summer, and regaining a healthy body, one better than what it was before the knife. Thankful for a caring partner, a beautiful home, two loving dogs, promise of rain, and new friends and acquaintances on the forum. For the learning I've participated in which has made my pipe smoking ever more pleasurable, and for the camaraderie as well. And for stumbling on some very aged Penzance and Margate! :)

Well, I am not a Christian but I don't see it as a reason not to be thankful. I am thankful for having great parents and their health, I am thankful for having the best wife in the world and becoming father of a handsome boy recently. I am thankful for having an amazing brother, his family and good friends around all the time. Thankful for having a better life than last year, nice pipes, amazing blends and last but not least for having you guys here to talk and get tons of advice.

Grateful might be the word I would use to describe my feelings about this group of thoughtful contributors to a pastime I've enjoyed even more because of their generosity of spirit as well as their efforts.

Interesting! Whether religion makes a difference in being thankful. I don't think so! The first N. American thanksgiving meal was Christian zealots and heathen peoples. But I've never thought of the holiday as being of one religion or another. Nor do I now believe you have to believe in a god to be thankful on that holiday, or any other day of the year. So an attitude of gratitude goes a long way!

I totally agree with you, jpmcwjr (and I thought my username was complicated :) ). Being religious or non-religious doesn't make any difference in being thankful.
