Nice pipes but when I think "Sportsman", I think outdoors and would expect to see a hinged wind cap and army mount stem and either in a blast or rusticated. Should have found another name for this series.

Those look like regular Peterson bowls with shorter stems, which is not bad at all. Their Outdoor series has a tiny bit so its difficult to clench.
I picked up a 106 Golf from Al Pascia earlier this year. Its silver banded and says "golf" on it. Anyway, its a regular 106 bowl but with a shorter regular bit on it. Easy to clench and a great smoker.

In another forum the 87 seems to be the most commented on. While not a huge Peterson fan due to their quality problems and engineering design, I love their stout looks in a pipe. I also love the army bit and nose warmer pipe lengths so I may give one of these a try if and when it becomes available.

doc... I go to Boswell's every Thursday hoping for a pipe that screams buy me. Some are close but no cigar yet. Its getting to the point I may call them for a custom. They have a stubby freehand that makes me drool. A pair of those and I could be content on PAD. Yeah right!

I like the look of the 87 too.
I guess it depends on the price. I've been burned many times on Petes but if it's on the lower end of the price spectrum might be a good pipe to live in the fishing vest next to a pouch of St. Bruno. Greens of Leeds had the old Outdoor series at ~$67...

Oohhh.... I like the looks of those Pete Sportsman pipes!

I have and Outdoor series "86", and I love it! It smokes as good as any other pipe I own, and it's one if the easiest pipes to clench I've ever had!
I like the looks of those Boswell Fisherman pipes too, very nice!

@Perique, from Cup 'O Joes:
"Peterson Outdoor Pipes are the same great peterson quality, but in a smaller size, for the ultimate portability."
