ONLY $40! I think thats an awesome deal if your getting a good pipe out of it plus its a cool event to say you were in. Kevin think of it this way if you would have gone out before just 2 people you could have had a trophy! I think the pressure of having to keep it lit would make it go out quicker for me lol.

I think my tongue would have to recover for a week if I did a fast smoking contest. I think I could do good, but when I watched a couple of those it looks like tongue bite city and you wouldn't be able to taste anything for a month.

Is there any sites, links, blogs from the champions of these events? Whats the basic key to getting it to last that long?
So an independent person packs all the pipes with tobacco, into each one of the like pipes for consistency? Then it's up to the smokers.

Hey Hobie,
I had the same questions a while back and wrote a blog about my experiments.

There are a few sites with the rules, but not a lot about technique.

Here is the link to my blog on Pipesmagazine.com.

I recommend that you start at the bottom and move up.

The posts are listed with the latest posting at the top.

I have to admit that I originally had no interest in practicing slow smoking.
To me, it was taking something fun and relaxing and turning into work. I didn't bother reading pstlpkr's posts about it.
Then came the contest in Chicago. Bob gave me a few pointers from reading pstlpkr's blog and they worked! I had a ball in the competition and can't wait to do it again now.
