That's a beautiful sight. Never had that blend, but if it smokes half as good as it looks...

The aroma from the tin was wonderful, sweet and soft virginia and plum perique.

I feel it is almost unfair, but seeing as I opened both the TH and Escudo together, comparisons must be made. The TH was well behaved, no bite and a little more astringent on the nasal exhale that the Escudo. Honestly the Escudo was almost over the top on plum and sweetness but the TH was soft and just sweet enough. The bowl smoked well, and quickly. Flavors changed from initial virginia bready creaminess for the first 3rd, then the perique comes on stronger with the sweetness calming. The finish was amazing as everything about the bowl comes together for a brief but extraordinary finish and the bowl (Usually a Boswell) was dry and no dottle remained. I tend to smoke the pipe in 3rds. If it goes out, I let it rest for a bit.

At 13 years, I feel we are letting this blend show us everything that Mr. Pease intended. Beautiful calming, relaxing smoke. TH is what I would call a soft VaPer even though the perique content is high it is never in your face. If you have some, smoke it... :)

Thanks for the excellent tasting notes.
This is my own opinion and not verified by any other source other than my own personal tastes. However, almost every GLP blend I've ever tried gets exponentially better with age

I sure hope so. I almost opened a similar vintage tin of Fillmore instead of the Telegraph Hill. I am looking forward to that.

Funny : I opened a Telegraph Hill tin 5 days ago. Mine is from oct.2006.

I could write the same review as donjgiles did, with this incredible 2nd half of the bowl, down to the bottom.
