A few months ago, there was a new sponser, Watson Shop out of the Ukraine. I liked two pipes, so my wife said to buy them for Christmas, but I could not see them until then. Now I have received them and would like to give a review. Both are pear wood. The taste was the same as my other pipes, so that was not a factor. They arrived about 10 days after ordering, which is what the site predicted.
Initially the mini-churchwarden had a problem with drawing. Once the stringer inside hit the closest trashcan, the problem was resolved. I find it difficult to thread a pipe cleaner through the small hole in the stem. The bowl is narrow and deep. I find it hard to re-light the bottom portion of the bowl.
I love the bent pipe. It is my new favorite. The site said that both pipes had a inside bowl diameter of .7", but the bent pipe is a full 1".
Overall, I certainly think the $35 I spent was a great deal. FYI, the new tampers are from a water oak tree that fell down in my Mom's woods a few months ago. It has already started to spalt.
