1983 Ashton

I am new to the forums and originally posted this over in the Shoe Me Your Ashton thread.

I recently bought 15 vintage pipes from an estate auction and did not have the chance to examine them closely before purchasing the whole set for an absurdly reasonable price.

When I returned home and looked at them closely, I was gobsmacked to find this Ashton.

I reviewed Pipedia and believe this is one of the 31 first run Ashton’s from 1983.

Am I missing anything or did I find a true treasure?

As 1983 is my birth year, and Dunhills from that year are woeful, an '83 Ashton is a major goal.
You should go buy a lottery ticket while you're on a roll.

What a nifty find. I wonder if the Ashton people would trade you a new one for one of the first ones. Though you might not want to make that deal.

I've always admired Ashtons, nicely crafted with some pizzazz in the style.

I do not see a logo on the stem.

I would get George D to make an Ashton logo stem for that one - I can vouch for his Ashton prowess. That is a Dibos stem, it originally came with a saddle stem.
