Loves me them Tanshells. It's hard to find impressive specimens because the Sardinian briar they were made from rarely blasted as dramatically as some of the softer varieties (like Algerian), but they're out there. You just have to look harder. (Making the job a little easier is knowing that many collectors think Tanshells, on average, are Dunhill's best smokers.)
1962 was the year Detroit's cars lost their fins, the Cuban Missile Crisis happened, and John Glenn orbited the Earth in Friendship 7.
Also, no one outside a seedy club in Hamburg, Germany had the slightest idea who The Beatles were. :lol:

I have two '62 Dunhills in my collection. Both group 3 pipes. One is a 148 saddle bit bulldog the second is a 47 tapered bit bulldog. It to has a wonderful blast. Thanks for the insight on the briar used.
