A new forum member recently sent me some pictures of this KBB set that dates to 1927. He found it unsmoked, at a yard sale!

The pipe is a Drinkless Relief Grain, 08 shape, a Medium Dublin. The 27 indicates the year of manufacture, 1927. It also includes cigar and cigarette holders

This gentleman is looking to sell the set and is seeking advice. Dave W. says it values in the $100 or so range.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thats a very nice set with the two cigarette holders as you don't see these very often as they are usually missing. I have seen the cigar holders a few times but not as a full set like that one. I would have thought $100 was a little on the light side.

Seriously though, I'm not too keen with prices but $100 sounds WAY too low

Ssjones:
Today on eBay Pipestud (aka Steve Fallon) just sold a pair of cased, smoked, Kaywoodie Matched Grain pipes (a bulldog stamped 12B, and a billiard stamped 22) dated to 1961 for $181.57, and for which he received 15 bids. Given the fact that the Forum Member's set is 34-years older, unsmoked, has a hang-tag, and has both cigar and cigarette holders in lieu of a second pipe, I cannot help but feel that it could garner more at sale than $100.00.

I'm thinking that the set would easily fetch $300 on Ebay. Lots of Kaywoodie collectors out there, and lets face it, these things don't come around that often.

I did email Tony Soderman, who is pretty much the premier collector of Kaywoodies and he didn't express much interest in it. He also said it was worth around $100-$150. That did seem too low to me.

Thing is, the 20's and 30's Kaywoodies were GREAT pipes judging from the few I've owned.

I'm certain it will sell for $100. I'm pretty sure it would also sell at $200-$225.

I typically price things to sell pretty quick.

If he wants to sell it, I would say list it on the 'Bay, 7 day auction, start at .99 cents, end it on a Saturday or Sunday. The market will determine the value. Roll the Dice!! Or, I'll give him $125 for it, and do it myself....... :D
