What is This?
I suppose that’s a possibility, just odd. It came in a Sherlock Holmes pipe cabinet, everything else in it was a pipe or smoking related. Looking at it now, it’s quite possibly an old handle off of an old tool. It’s definitely a hard wood.- JTS

What is This?
Chat GPT says it’s an antique tamper. I got this in a lot of very rough “estate” pipes. I’ve never seen one nor can I find another example on the internet. Pardon my dirty hand as I was also attempting to clean up a few of the pipes.- JTS
