    TAD Acquisitions 2025

My modest Black Friday purchase. Not pictured are some Davidoff cigarillos and CAO Brazillias. Unfortunately one of them has a crack at its foot. Not sure if it’s worth trying to get a replacement since it’s a $9 stick.

    Zippo Pipe Lighters...Opinions Please!

Your pipe is either packed too loose or too tight. That’s what I suspect at least.

    C&D Briar Fox Review

I understand most burley blends will have a cigarettey smell and flavor to them, but at the same time I don’t think I’ve ever smoked a cigarette that smelled or tasted as good/nuanced as Haunted Bookshop.

    TAD Acquisitions 2025

Stocking up on Brothers in Arms, more haunted bookshop cake, and St. Bruno. And a tub of granger, which seems to be bloated. I wonder how old it is

Time To Give Up The Hobby

I think I’ve heard that tobacco on reservations is tax free or something like that.

    C&D Briar Fox Review

Smoking this for the first time with a coffee, and my first impression is that it’s like Haunted Bookshop without the spice and fruitiness from the Perique. I really like it and agree with others that it’s easy to smoke. Excellent quality tobacco, definitely codger style. Especially since I...

    When Building Cake

I’m not an old timer, but I’ve had no problem building cake. Just smoke the same pipe a lot. I use the edge of the spoon bit on the Czech pipe tool and scrape down the high spots if they appear. I generally do clean with pipe cleaners, sometimes I don’t clean the pipe at all. But more often than...

How Do You Store a Lit Bowl

Cut off air and it will go out quickly. Like snuffing out a candle. No need to wait.

    Lighters for Dummies

My issue with Bic is that it’s unnecessary plastic waste 👎 Unless Bic sells a refillable lighter I don’t know about.

How Do You Store a Lit Bowl

No. You can easily put the pipe out by cutting air off to the ember. Covering the end of the bit and the bowl of the pipe. I recommend dumping out the loose ash too. And when you go to light up again, exhale some of your breath into the bowl to wet it a bit (if that makes any sense). That’s...

Different pipes for different tobaccos, Myth?

The only opinion I have is that smaller bowls smoke shag cut best, but other than that I think it’s just personal preference. Most of my pipes are bulldogs and what I appoint them to is completely arbitrary.

I guess you could say I was very impressed with these blends. Came in the mail today.

Royal Yacht in a Peterson Spigot Bulldog. My cat tolerates the room note much more than other blends.

The grain on that Peterson is phenomenal!

***What Are You Smoking, October 2025?***

Kings Watch in a Pete Junior Bulldog. This stuff slaps. I saw Smoking Pipes restocked all the Per blends and I ordered several tins of both flakes.

    How dry should it be?

For me, it’s always good right out the tin. It is your preference though. I don’t think it’s worth the fuss. I would assume that the best moisture would technically be 65rh or somewhere around there, which is optimal for cigars in my opinion.
