***What Are You Smoking, April 2024?***

Treated myself to my first System pipe with my tax return. Breaking it in with a little OJK

***What Are You Smoking, March 2024?***

Packed this pipe days ago but never got around to it. Now it’s raining but not so bad an umbrella can’t do the trick. Stokkebye 4th Gen Morning Blend in an Amphora briar

***What Are You Smoking, February 2024?***

First bit of decent deck weather in a while. Helped my mom move some furniture earlier, and now I'm relaxing with a bowl of my "house blend" - odds and ends from the bottoms of assorted jars and tins. Don't remember exactly what's in here but I think it's mostly Shepherds Pie and Three Friars...

Stanwell with Damaged Horn on Shank

Update: The pipe arrived this afternoon. Just spent a few hours cleaning it up. I tried the epoxy putty to fill in the missing chunks of horn. I wish I had been a little tidier about it, but it sanded down pretty smooth and flush with the horn. Doesn't look *too* bad. Also had to tighten...

Stanwell with Damaged Horn on Shank

$35, shipping and taxes included. Seller appears to be a regular merchant with overwhelmingly positive reviews. Looks like a general antique dealer, but has sold pipes in the past

Stanwell with Damaged Horn on Shank

Yeah, these photos are from the listing. I just didn't look closely enough before bidding. Completely on me, not the seller

***What Are You Smoking, January 2024?***

Davidoff Flake Medallion at the Owl Shop in New Haven. Didn't much like it at first but a few months in the jar mellowed it nicely

Stanwell with Damaged Horn on Shank

Hi all, I just won an eBay auction for a Stanwell pipe that I only half-remembered bidding on. I hadn't noticed til I won, but it's got some pretty bad chips in the white horn around the shank. Listing says it's just cosmetic damage, so should still smoke fine, but I was wondering if I might be...

***What Are You Smoking, January 2024?***

First snow of the year with a little Nightcap. Pipe is a little no-name I snagged on eBay. Comfortable clencher but tends to clog easily

Awesome! I'll definitely try to make it out

***What Are You Smoking, December 2023?***

Tried my first bowl of C&D John Marr in my Savenelli Arcoboleno. Nice blend: toffee-like topping comes through up front, but stops well short of being cloying. The tobacco itself - VaPer and Cavendish - becomes more pronounced on the back half. Burns pretty cool with minimal relights. Happy to...

Enjoying some Haunted Bookshop in a little Italian number I snagged on eBay.

***What Are You Smoking, November 2023?***

Neglected to take a photo, but I've been trying to develop a taste for C&D Three Friars, most recently with a bowl from a Dutch Amphora pipe I snagged on eBay. I certainly get the grassiness from the Virginia, but the burley notes have been lost on me. Not an unpleasant tobacco and a welcome...

    Show Off Your Kaywoodie Pipes

Found this Kaywoodie at an estate sale near my house. It was clearly well-loved, as it's got the prior owner's initials engraved on it — and it was completely clogged with tar when I bought it. Managed to clean it well enough to use, although I accidentally broke the ball off the end of the...

    New Haven Connecticut meet up

Hey! I only joined the forum very recently, but I'm in the New Haven area (and getting ready to light a bowl of Owl Shop's Harkness Tower blend as I type). Shoot me a DM if there's ever another meet-up soon!

    Davidoff Flake Medallion

I had a similar experience with the Flake Medallions - awful tongue bite. I find that rubbing them out completely and leaving the tobacco out to dry for a few hours takes the edge out. Also, the second half of the bowl is considerably mellower than the first. Looking forward to seeing how they...

    Hello from Connecticut!

Hi all, I'm Pete! I'm a longtime smoker (quit smoking cigarettes about five years ago, but still enjoyed the occasional cigar since), but new to pipes. I stopped drinking alcohol over the summer, and one unexpected side effect was a renewed craving for tobacco. I'm lucky enough to live close...
