    Talk To Me About Boats

I 1000% second this. I wrote fishing articles for a local newspaper back in the day, and did all my content from shore or paddling in a little crappy kayak. But, I’ll be honest, being in that crappy hunk of chartreuse colored plastic made my week EVERY time. Plus, no maintenance costs, and if...

When to dump the ash and light up again?

I often find myself absent-mindedly tunking out the ashes about halfway through a bowl. It’s a habit from my… more adventurous days. Those ashes choked the cherry out almost every time. I have noticed that leaving ashes on tends to lead to a slightly cooler smoke, but also a thinner smoke. But...

    Dogs & Pipes

This here is Johnathan Hank Cash, or Hank to his friends. He’s a handful of a pointer/chocolate lab mix. He’s just a touch bigger now at almost 50lbs, but he’s camera shy and doesn’t like my pipes too much. He *does* really love the taste of boots, though.

What Cigar are You Smoking? - 2022

Today’s day at the shop is sponsored by a Macanudo Cafe Hampton Court. Co-sponsors include Death Wish coffee, and the blood-boiling rage induced by city traffic.

What would be Your Favorite Unobtainable Unthought of Aromatic Flavors?

I’m gonna second the lavender idea. Never thought about that before!

Hahaha, everyone likes their own brand!

    Stingers! I Got 'Em

What an interesting collection. I normally despise the damn things, but they definitely should have their place in history.

    What Happened To Lima Beans?

Fresh ones aren’t too common in my part of Alabama, but there’s an abundance of canned ones. Here’s to hoping you find some fresh, and soon!

    Ovaltine In Coffee

Coffee is good black, with bourbon, with sugar, with cream, with flavored creamer, etc. Coffee is up there with tobacco as far as my necessities go. I prefer my coffee strong and dark, but to each their own!

What Cigar are You Smoking? - 2022

Today’s drive to work was sponsored by a Miami Snow and Ford. It’ll be paired with a cup of Death Wish coffee and a strong hankering for two fingers of bourbon.

    Happy Accident (Thanks Bob Ross...)

I like to mix a little autumn evening in with my remaining non-aromatics when the drying plate has a bit extra. Squadron Leader worked great at a 2:1 ratio, and a 1:1 with Scottish mixture from my local B&M was a daily smoke for a while there. When I want a super strong room note, I’ll even mix...

    Newest Estate Purchase!

Thank god you were here to identify it. I was gonna load it with lawn clippings! Jokes aside, it’s a fantastic little workhorse. Especially for $8!

    Newest Estate Purchase!

Found this little stubby pipe on eBay and got it for a song. I can’t find any info on it, but it sure smokes nice. The rim is a bit beat up, and the bowl itself has been used extensively, but it’s a super lightweight clencher. Does anyone know more about the origins? It’s stamped “stubby...

    johnypipes, Pipe Maker from Iran

I just googled some of those chopogh pipes, and they are extremely interesting. They seem similar to the Japanese kiseru, or even the medwakh pipes used for dohka. Are they used for regular pipe tobacco, or some kind of a special preparation?

    People Who Shorten Your Name

On the reverse, I go by Willie, and have had people expand it into William unnecessarily. There’s a corncob in my mouth and a gun on my hip, so William is a bit formal. Of course, the wife just calls me babe or some similar variation. To answer the question more directly, if someone calls you by...

    Legal Moonshine.. Any Good?

I had the opportunity to tour the “moonshine” distillery up in Gatlinburg. I grew up drinking true shine bought from friends of friends, and the mass produced stuff doesn’t compare. It’s low proof, the flavors are sickeningly sweet, and the straight “shine” is closer to Smirnoff than white...

    First Pipe, Briar Or Cob?

Honestly, if I could go back, I would have started from the jump with a cob pipe. I struggled with a metal-bowled crap pipe, and could never keep it lit. I tried a briar, and thoroughly abused it trying to figure everything out. I actually put the hobby down for a few years out of frustration. I...
