I just gave it a go and then I found this forum. I have received a lot of help here. Still learning.

    Questions re: Tins

Haha, yes I do have iphone boxes around and I have no idea why. I do think a lot of these tins looks infinitely cooler than those boxes so..... I definitely understand it more now.

    Questions re: Tins

I appreciate this insight into why you kept these tins and it was very cleverly conveyed. I really like the artwork and shape of the one on the left. Sorry they were underwhelming but they certainly still made an impact.

    Questions re: Tins

Thanks. Yes, it is his writing. He was always very meticulous with writing things down. I always found that cool about him.

    Questions re: Tins

I will try to get a photo of them some time. Not sure when though. I find myself with many projects in the works at all times. Haha. We also split up his pipe collection 3 ways. I am in awe of the number of pipes he had. I know he smoked pretty much his whole life so..... it makes sense. I...

    Questions re: Tins

I like how you explained it like a jam jar. That makes sense. I will probably also weight it. I want to be sure. Thanks!

Thank you for confirming that. I was thinking that was probably the case. I only opened the one I thought was certainly empty.

    Questions re: Tins

Thank you for the information. The empty tins don't look particularly old but that is interesting. I got a few tubs full of things and it has been a really fun sleuthing expedition. I doubt at my rate of smoking I would ever make it through all of this tobacco. I have up until this point just...

    Questions re: Tins

I acquired a bunch of tins when my father passed away. I joined this forum awhile back and received some helpful tips on smoking and I still enjoy smoking here and there. I have some questions about the tins. 1. He wrote dates on the back. Is that when he bought them? 2. Some seemed lightweight...

Such good advice. In my particular case, I won't have to buy any tobacco for a long time. With the inherited pipes, I have two plastic bins full of tobacco. I have no idea how long this stays good if still in tins. I appears he wrote dates on the back. It seems like a big amount for one person...

Yes, I can see how this hobby can require a number of items to get started. At this point, I haven't needed to acquire anything yet. It is a pretty hefty starter kit. There are quite a few pipes so it may be awhile before I photograph them. Thanks for writing and it is nice to meet you.

Thank you for the link. I am glad the jars are labeled with names. It doesn't look like many folks gave this one favorable reviews. I did enjoy it though. The next day I smoked a different one and I think it was called autumn evening? I should google that one too and see what I can learn...

Hi. I do think sometimes a bit of smoke gets to the lungs. I am hoping over time, I will get a good rhythm and balance. I really only plan at this point to do 1 bowl a day and that is if time allows. I appreciate the positive information that you shared. =)
