    Favorite Tobak Pairings

I haven’t tried it yet, but with cigars especially maduro I like Guinness or Dragons Milk so I wonder how that would work with a strong English blend.

If you can’t smoke it, don’t buy it?

The Jarl I Got for 7 Bucks Before and After

Thanks. From what I’ve seen it looks like a very rewarding hobby!

The Jarl I Got for 7 Bucks Before and After

Nice pipe and great job reworking the pipe. Very inspiring. I used to see old pipes in antique shops and wondered why anyone would want to buy them (didn’t smoke a pipe back then) but I can see why now. Has me interested in giving it a try!

    Ragweed Season

Would make sense. I think the nicotine acts as a vasoconstrictor to the blood vessels in the sinuses much the same way pseudoephedrine works as a nasal decongestant. So there you have it, another positive aspect of pipe smoking?

    Ragweed Season

I have bad allergies as well and the gel really helps to keep things moist. It’s really helpful in thie winter when everything gets real dry.

    Dry or Moist Pipe Tobacco

I don’t have enough experience in this arena to have a preference at this point. For what it’s worth, I do know that my wife wraps my sandwiches for work in paper towel to keep them from getting soggy.

    Ragweed Season

I use both as well. There is also a saline nasal gel that works well too.

    Selecting Your First Pipe

Congratulations, and enjoy your retirement, I can’t wait. We’ll have to share some pharmacy horror stories someday. Lol?

***What Are You Smoking, September 2021?***

Branching off from cigar smoking into pipe smoking I selected the following to start with. I tend towards medium to full strength with cigars but not being familiar with pipe tobacco, I selected several mild, a couple of medium and 1 full strength blend. I tried to stick with ribbon cut until...

Note: One photo removed at poster's request, and duplicate or second views also removed, so narrative doesn't track. I’m posting some pictures of new pipes (first pipes) as a result of a question I posted in the “Beginner” forum on selecting your first pipe. It is important to know that I have...

    Selecting Your First Pipe

After taking all the information into consideration, I set a max price of <$100 on a pipe pipe and ran a search to review what was available. I’m someone who likes options and I knew I wouldn’t be satisfied having just 1 pipe. So I looked at various pipes in the price range I selected based on...

    Selecting Your First Pipe

Found this article on pipe airway design which was interesting to me me from an engineering standpoint. May be a bit much to read, but it does address important design elements. Just thought I’d post it since there has been some discussion about it. What is a pipe Part 4: Design of the Airway...

    Selecting Your First Pipe

I certainly would not try to do this without the experience. It is a topic that is interesting to me since I was an engineer before I became a pharmacist. One of big topics studied both engineering school and in practice was flow through pipes ( not briar ?). It was a very important aspect...

    Selecting Your First Pipe

Would be too much for me now, but I’ve always enjoyed woodworking since I was in high school so I’m really interested in pipe making and hope I can do a little more with that when I retire. Big learning curve ahead of me!
