New Additions Coming To The Pipedia Barling Page

Do an advanced search on EBay of completed transactions. You’d get a pretty good idea of current prices Of course prices will depend on condition, number of bidders and the vendor. You generally pay a premium for pieces from certain vendors because of their reputation and presentation

Thanks Jesse and Jon for the research. Most importantly dispelling the misinformation that gets accepted as “fact” just because it has been repeated by various sources without verification.

    When and Where.

All tobacco products are taxed at the same rate. Whole leaf tobacco is not available in Oz to my knowledge

***What Are You Smoking, May 2025?***

I’m spending a few days in Malacca - a town with a fascinating history. After a very tasty Nonya dinner I’m sitting at a bar beside the Malacca river having a bowl of W.O. Larsen Signature in a Stanwell bent egg designed by Anne Julie

    Running out of Tobacco

I feel for you. Tobacco is expensive in Oz. But at least it IS available - IF you’re willing to pay the price.

I have deleted my post as I don’t wish to make any comments that may be deemed political

    When and Where.

Yup ! And @Briar Lee goes on about the thieving US guberment ! He wouldn’t want to migrate to Oz, if he wishes to continue smoking The tobacco excise tax is based on weight, not value. So a cheap blend is taxed at the same rate as a premium blend. There ain’t NO cheap tobacco in Oz. And...

    When and Where.

How about AUD$155 for 50grams in Oz ? I only smoke on the weekends and when I’m on holidays, so I don’t go through a lot of tobacco. Usually 2 bowls a day, back to back. Occasionally I may have a 3rd bowl if the previous 2 smokes were short. Smoking for me is “me time” - a chance to wind down...

Yet Another Pipe and Cigar Friendly Spot in Kuala Lumpur

They have smoking jackets on loan. If you liked one, the bespoke tailor in the hotel can make you one. I passed. That Hugh Hefner look is a tad louche 😏

You are welcome to bring your own cigars. And pipes are welcome. The Majestic Hotel and Smoke Room Enjoying...

Pipe Abuse - Wicked Are the Ways of Men

I actually saw someone “smoking” one of those a couple of days ago and had to ask him what it was and how it worked. BUT Is a smokeless “smoke” still a smoke 🤔

Pipe Abuse - Wicked Are the Ways of Men

Anything is possible ! Philip Morris has announced it is getting out of tobacco I’m not sure if it is a definite corporate strategy to withdraw completely or just making the right noises to placate the rabid anti-smoking brigade. Maybe they have plans to get into the lucrative vape market 🤔 I...

Dinner In The Oldest Restaurant in Malaya

I did find a cigar lounge in Ipoh - Vantage Wine and Cigars. It’s in a suburb - a short MYR 10 ride (with Grab - the local version of Uber) Unfortunately they only allow cigars, which you have to purchase in-house. The manager generously allowed us to smoke our own cigars as we were the only...

Dinner In The Oldest Restaurant in Malaya

Sign of the times - the spittoons are indeed gone. But the kopitiams still use same old the coffee cups with the deep saucers. When I was a small boy, my grandpa would share a saucerful of his coffee with me. Quite a treat when you were 6 or 7 yo

Dinner In The Oldest Restaurant in Malaya

It is really not a noted tourist destinat In years gone by, it was a convenient stop if you were driving to Penang from KL. Ipoh has always had a reputation for good food, because of the wealth in the area. These days most tourists fly to Penang and bypass Ipoh. I have fond memories of many...
