    Got a Tom Spanu pipe

I have a few of his pipes and one has become among my 3 favorite smokers now. Nice pipe!

What Dye Can be Used on Briar?

Feibing’s is certainly the go-to. A lot of stains used for guitar making are compatible too and some nice colors like vintage Amber by color tone at StewMac though a bit pricier. Of course I’m sure others have said what you need to know. Good luck with it! - Pete

    Dr. Grabow Experts Please

Here’s some info from over at grabow collector’s forum though it doesn’t go into this type of rustication. I’ve owned 400+ Grabows and many Eldorados. They’re my favorite line overall from the brand. The rustic ones are far more rare than smooth in my experience. Anyway, I often refer to...

    What is your Trigger

Waking up count? Anytime I need a change of scenery or a break, heading out to my patio works. So… many times a day. :)

***What Are You Smoking, July 2024?***

Yeah me too. More and more. Before, I hesitated hearing so much about ‘brand tax’ etc. However, my 69 Shell Briar became one of my favorite smokers so I got another. Then another… and so on. They’re all smoking great so far. This one is my birth year which I didn’t even pay attention to so...

***What Are You Smoking, July 2024?***

Been really loving Pipe Force Episode 2. So far a very good blend. The rest have been ok. I like #5 as well. That along with Solani 633 VaPer, Capstan, MacLellands Nine 2 Five, and HB cake. Pipes picked up this month: a cool 78 Dunhill with Les Wood Silver Band, Castello and a Meer.

    Sun bear 2024

Mountain Flower so far for me. Finished a tin of that and then Tupelo over last month or so and opened another Mtn Flower.

Preferred Bowl Size For Burley Blends

Since they often smoke a bit hot for me, I like a narrow bowl or average group 4 bowl w/ .75” or so chamber width and some depth to it. A Dunhill group 4 billiard fits perfectly for me. I have tried all shapes and it can depend… but overall I’ve settled on that width and pack a bit tight.

Jim's Sutliff Pipe Force II Review.

Of all the Pipe Force blends, I really like the V a lot, but II is my favorite so far. I went and got 6 more tins and smoking a bowl of it on my patio in a Dunhill i’m breaking in. It’s a nice blend.

    Best Prince Shape carver?

I have always liked Savinelli and Kaywoodie 96 Princes as for appearance and top of my head.

    Your First Pipe

A Bjarne made Viking Classic smooth bent apple. Had no idea what I was doing and went based on looks and price. Was about $60 back in the late 90’s or very early 2000’s. It smokes great to this day though the heavy coating on it which gave it some real beauty is now wearing off. I’m going to...

    Morta Pipes Experiences?

One of the first pipes I got was a Vermont Freehand Morta and it took a couple years before I really paid attention to it and learned to love it. It always looked great. Now it’s one of my favorite smokers and I have 500 + pipes or so. I’m searching for another. It heats up but pace myself...

    Old Kaywoodie Rarity

I may have the largest or close to it Kaywoodie collection now. Nice to see this post. It’s a beauty! I’m working on putting mine up on a site but I’m slow and hopefully will over the next few months. Really nice grain on that one!

    Do You Clench your Pipe?

I 50/50 clench and hold, often to type like I am now. I prefer a partially bent pipe for that reason and use thinner walled softy bits for the most part.

    Which Luxury Lighter?

I have a lot of different lighters of every type and I gotta say, the Old Boy is the most consistent for me.

I Have This Pfeifenwerkstatt T.H.A.L. Pipe. Does Anyone Have Any Info On The Brand? I Can’t Find Much. Cool Pipe Though.

Thanks. Yeah I broke a pipe in my rotation recently. Really no clue how it happened. I removed the stem and tenon just broke off. Never dropped it or anything. A really cool bent Ascorti Business with a Fumé rim. Loved that pipe. Packed it away until I can repair it. So I’m searching for a...

I Have This Pfeifenwerkstatt T.H.A.L. Pipe. Does Anyone Have Any Info On The Brand? I Can’t Find Much. Cool Pipe Though.

I bought this a couple years ago and haven’t smoked it. I was going through some pipe boxes and always liked the look. There’s very little to no info I can find on the company or maker. Just curious if anyone had any info. I bought it from a German family store I’ve got quite a few pipes...

What Tobacco for Breaking-in your Expensive Pipes?

Whatever you like to smoke of course!
