Your memory serves well. It was a nice addition to my collection.

Pipes by Lee Soaking Up Oil

Guess I’ll toss in my $0.02 since it’s worth as much or little as any other. I have over 100 Lees. Based on the restoration descriptions at Reborn Pipes, each smooth one got a single drop of olive oil rubbed in after cleanup. Seems to make the grain pop again before hand waxing/buffing. Nary a...

Gotta be Lee. All the examples I’ve seen are classic Lee shaping.

Sorry I missed your post on the other thread. Here’s what I have re the Magic Stems… Lord Davenport first patented it in 1938 with an update in 1941. I have PDFs of both patents. I have 5 of the Davenports: one 1938 Pat. Pending, one with dual patents, and three 1941s. Here’s where it gets...

That’s the best condition I’ve found stamped stars in, so to have ‘em on a pipe like this was a lucky find.

Third generation 3-star (stamped) Dublin with a large—for Lees—bowl. Whoever set this block up followed the grain rather nicely around the shank-to-bowl transition.

A while back I scored a nifty set: 3 7-pt star Apple with a box, sales card, and sock. I suspect the accessories may not be original to the pipe simply because I have a box with 7-pt stars and these are the 5s. But it’s a nice set nonetheless. Nice straight grain up the side. A bit of burn...

The grain’s pretty decent all around. Your categorization of it as a Bullmoose is probably better. I think of a Bullmoose as having beefier proportions, but the shape itself matches up.

This squat Bulldog shape appears to have been popular based on the number I’ve seen for sale. Nice grain and didn’t require too much cleanup other than the usual stem oxidation and a bit of lava on the rim. It bad for $36 shipped.

Another one I found in pretty good condition, this time with a box and for $33. I just love Bulldogs. Note the “Italy” stamped on the stummel…this would’ve been a later year, likely about the time Lee’s Briarlee sub-brand was also moved there from the U.S. (Century Old)

Pretty stoked about this one. It seems 4-star Lees are as rare as 5-stars. This is my first, a 2nd generation 4-star Zulu that cleaned up nicely. Left a little char and a few dings to remind me someone else loved it before I. For those interested, one before/after:

Neat piece. What’s the tie-in to Briarlee? Were these made by parent company Pipes by Lee?

This small-bowled churchwarden fills another shape gap in my collection. Needed a little TLC, but nothing drastic. Left a little rim char to remind me someone loved it before I found it.

Three star (3rd Gen) bent Pot. Classic shape with decent grain. Stars are just faintly visible so the stem won’t get polished or they’ll disappear…matte it remains.

Supposedly the Opera shape was intended to create a lower profile in a suit jacket pocket. At any rate, the oval bowl is interesting and is one I hadn’t seen from Briarlee. A dark contrast highlights the grain but also makes a couple fills more obvious.

Squat Rhodesian or Bullmoose, this one cleaned up well and has that gnarly Custom-Bilt carving that feels good in hand.

    That’s my fifth 1-star, all 2nd/3rd Gen. I’d love to find a 7-pt.

Found another 1-star. This time a 3rd Gen Bulldog with the stamped Star all but eradicated. If I weren’t lazy I’d reshoot this last one after cleaning that one edge…
