I just look at reviews from certain individuals who provide useful information. Tobaccoreviews just has a lot of chaff. But information that is not useful to me might be useful to someone else.
I have a box of my Dad’s singles he bought out of jukeboxs in the 50’s. They are still some of my most treasured vinyl. I have my Uncle’s record collection from the 40s through 70s. A lot of country classics there.
I’ve pressed whole leaf in a noodle press. I also heated it in the microwave before putting it in the press. I made two ounce pucks. I pressed them for a week, tightening the press every day. I sliced the flakes as soon as I got them out of the press as they were a little softer then. I also put...
Well done Mike, you’re on to something! I think the cob might also be part of the secret, they seem quite forgiving. That said, I don’t pay much attention to packing method anymore, just fill the pipe and tamp using feel. I get more consistent results than I ever did blindly following a method.

I just got a Baki pipe and a pipe with bamboo so my wish list is a little shorter. I would like a 1941 Dunhill for my Dad’s birth year and another unobtanium, a Brigham Centennial pipe.
Most of my routines involve building in some alone time before and after interacting with others , useful for an introvert. The early morning is a great time to do it.
Great news on the improvement and wonderful lunch. Congratulations that your perseverance is paying off. I hope you are encouraged as you continue the work.
