    Hello from NYS

Welcome Bruce! I'm fairly new to pipe smoking as well, and I can assure you that my experience with this wonderful group of people so far has been nothing shy of amazing. They are all so helpful. My stepfather has raised roosters for as long as I can remember. I don't visit him as often as I'd...

Stem Removal - Yes or No?

Duh! I never even thought that it could be build up or something similar to do with the tenon. I'll check it out and give it a good cleaning, because yea, I feel the need to put the man grip on it also, otherwise there's no getting that sucker back in place. Thanks for the info fellers

Stem Removal - Yes or No?

That's the thing, it isn't loose but rather very tight and sometimes i can't even turn it because it's so hard to do so.

Stem Removal - Yes or No?

I have read several times that one should not remove the stem of a pipe while cleaning it, but one should rather wait until the pipe cools and then run a cleaner through the stem from the mouth piece to the bowl/chamber. (I'm not too keen on the specific anatomical parts of a pipe, so if I word...

    Oak Alley in Chacom Pot

Well first off, I am fairly new to the hobby, so keep that in mind. I have only ever purchased one tin of Oak Alley, and I find it to be an exceptional blend. I smoked it first in my cob, but lately I've been smoking it in my Peterson Apple, and every smoke I've had in the Apple, probably 6 or...

Cellaring - Original Tins or Mason Jars?

Thanks you guys, I guess I'll just leave the tins alone and put them somewhere dark and cool.

Cellaring - Original Tins or Mason Jars?

I read somewhere recently that when it comes to cellaring tobacco it's okay to just store the original tins, providing you don't open them, which in that case it'd be better to then store it in a mason jar or something similar. Well my question is, is it okay to cellar un opened tins of GL Pease...

To cellar or not to cellar?

Thanks for the link, Cortez! Some amazing information in this!

    Otc Chemical Taste?

Thanks guys for the info and recommendations. I was able to find a pouch of Carter Hall yesterday and wow! That's what I've been wanting, nothing to robust or "exotic" I guess, something I can load in my cob and enjoy anytime of the day! I will definitely check out the midtown series, Chatham...

To cellar or not to cellar?

I'm ready to start trying different blends to find out exactly what suits me, but I want to get some info on how and what to cellar before I start acquiring. Can anyone share with me their knowledge of which types of tobaccos/blends are better with age, and what aging actually will do to said...

    Otc Chemical Taste?

Thanks for the info mso. I guess I never noticed the pouches due to the big attractive tubs getting all my attention. I will see if the tobacco shop in town has some CH in pouches that I can try. I'm just attracted to that old school, traditional type of blend that I can always rely on, while of...

    Otc Chemical Taste?

I've yet to try and OTC blends, so as soon as I do my questions will then be answered, but I'd like a little foreknowledge concerning a few things. I seem to be drawn to a good Burley blend, especially as an all day smoke. I have been smoking Mac Baren Symphony for a couple weeks and I really...

    Greetings from Georgia

Thank you, sir. Nice and humid in my neck of the woods today. What part of this lovely state do you call home? I'd like to find a good tobacco shop close by.

    Greetings from Georgia

I've been browsing so many of the forums here lately that I figured it was about time to join and actually interact with all you fellow pipe smokers and tobacco enthusiasts. My interest in pipe smoking started around the same time I stumbled upon the Art of Manliness website, which is also when...
