MM Corn Cob Outside of Bowl Giving of Purple/Black Gunk

In an unparalleled move of stupidity I let one one of the pipes dry without the bit inserted. Now I have a pipe that will not accept the bit. My first inclination is to grab a pair or sharp scissors and shave out the stem where it accepts the bit. Any other/better ideas?

MM Corn Cob Outside of Bowl Giving of Purple/Black Gunk

Two country gentleman. I assumed it was coloring related but just wanted to see if the community knew something I didn't about this topic. Thanks

MM Corn Cob Outside of Bowl Giving of Purple/Black Gunk

I decided tonight to clean my only two MM Corn Cob pipes. Based on online instructions I settled down with some pipe cleaners, rubbing alcohol, paper towels and a little time. After cleaning both pipes I gave them a quick rinse under the sink to get out any small loose debris and quickly wiped...

New to Pipes, Already Learning from This Forum

Tried SWR Aromatic today and my wife finally said "Oh that smells good!" Maybe now I can start working my way indoors. yeah right.. Currenty enjoying a four way blend of SWRA, 1-Q, BCA and CB Royal. Not a bad mix at all.

Just enjoyed my first bowl of BCA. Wowie! It was exactly what I hoped for in pipe smoking. Tomorrow I'll give the 1-Q/BCA mix a try. I already see myself mixing BCA with lots of other blends. As for CB cherry, well it's been tossed into my drawer along with some unknown blend I picked up at the...

Any Pipe Clubs Near Charleston, SC?

Point taken jpmcwjr. I guess I should have set my expectations a little lower. Maybe look for a lounge where I wouldn't be the only pipe smoker. Or maybe start my own pipe club, my garage could fit 6-8 fairly comfortable. 8)

Any Pipe Clubs Near Charleston, SC?

Any new developments on this front? New to pipe smoking and wouldn't mind some real life pipe related interaction. I'm about 20 minutes from Downtown Charleston so anything in the area might work. There are plenty of cigar shops around that offer smoking lounges but something strictly pipes...

    Question About Tobacco Prices

14.50? That's nearly $20 USD mawnansmiff. I'd be throwing tea off the docks everynight with prices like that! And its $105 tax per pound in Sweden? That's unbelievable. Suddenly 12 oz and a tin for $43 doesn't sound so bad. Thanks for the perspective.

    Question About Tobacco Prices

That isn't the first I've read about the laws for tobacco sales online could become more restrictive. Is there any legislation currently in the works to make this happen?

    Question About Tobacco Prices

That's a good point sablebrush, I hadn't considered blends that weren't available in bulk. I'm barely 2 weeks into pipe smoking and all of my tobacco purchases have been based on what's popular and been around for a while in order to give myself a good baseline to branch out from. I would also...

    Question About Tobacco Prices

I've fallen for the decoder ring one too many times. S-M-O-K-E M-O-R-E C-A-P-T-A-I-N B-L-A... aww son of a ...

    Question About Tobacco Prices

Hahaha that's a great response. I think I'll stick to bulk tobacco and keep it in my air tight containers at home. I can buy a pound of tobacco and enough jars to store it for less than a 12 oz can. Maybe one day when I'm feeling fancy I'll spring for a tin can and just refill it with bulk...

    Question About Tobacco Prices

I've noticed that many blends are very inexpensive if you buy them bulk but cost a seemingly insane amount in comparison if you get them in a tin or can. Captain Black for instance is $1.5 per oz but a 12 oz can is nearly $43. $1.5 by 12 is $18, surely the can itself can cost $25. What exactly...

I have some Lane 1Q, Lane BCA and SWR Aromatic on the way. They should be here before the weekend which means I'll have a very busy Saturday ahead of me. Also have a second MM Country Gentleman on the way becuase the first one is too good to be lonely. With any lucky the Autumn weather will hold...

New to Pipes, Already Learning from This Forum

Thanks newbroom. I may have to try an unfinished cob for my next pipe purchase. I'm already feeling a bad case of PAD developing. I have another question for you fine pipe smoking people. I think I've been confusing aromatic with flavorful. I'm realizing now that aromatic is more about the...

In my very limited experience I'd say my favorite is the Country Gentleman which I bought bent. Personally the bent pipes have more visual appeal.

Anthony 74: I agree, it seems that one of the easiest ways to pack a bowl wrong is to over think it. Didimauw: My MM country gentleman is brand new. The 2 MM pony express pipes were found in some boxes by my wife. One of her family members used them sometime in the last decade, they are in good...

New to Pipes, Already Learning from This Forum

Just tried the new MM Country Gentleman. I really enjoy the larger bowl and successfully had a no relight smoke! I don't expect to have no relight smoking sessions very often but I'll certainly make the most of them when I am lucky enough to have one. Very relaxing and last about twice as long...

That's some information Gentlemen. I now have a good list of tobacco to start working my way through. I'm thinking it would be wise to start a tobacco log to rate my personal taste of each tobacco I try and make it easier to pinpoint my likes and disklikes. I constantly find myself surprised at...
