Walked into my local B&M …

Im jealous of you all that can still get tinned pipe tobacco at local shops. The closest ones to me only have cigars now. They said internet pricing and low demand made it pointless for them to compete.

Peterson 2024 St. Patrick's Day Pipe

Its tradition for me to always get the St Patrick's day release, which I have done since 2010. Honestly dont see all the hate they're getting. I mean, its got green on it for a reason. One thing I am not a fan of is the constant mark up they keep adding each time a seasonal release comes...

1792 Gone In Less than 12hrs

Must not have been a large drop like last year. I received the email, but because I still have close to a pound, I was gonna grab 8oz when I got home and not worry about dealing with SmokingPipes site cause I knew it would just be a joke trying to check out. To my surprise, it was all gone when...

Enjoying my Tinsky Anniversary pipe with this amazing view while on vacation. Carolina Red Flake w/ Perique in the bowl:

    GH Rum Flake

I always jar any of my GH or SG purchases. I’m actually enjoying a bowl of run flake as I type this. I’ve heard mention in other reviews about this having a mild Lakeland essence but I don’t detect it. For me this is just a good, straight forward tobacco. No frills or crazy in depth flavors...

***What Are You Smoking, October 2023?***

Just got home from the Braves game. They lost but we still had a blast with everything there is to do in and out of the stadium. Relaxing now with some GH Rum Flake in a MM Dagner Poker

Country Squire's Middle Earth Series to be Renamed.

On one hand, I could careless because I never really went for a name when it came to Pipe Tobacco. I would look up reviews and then make a judgement call. Sure, being a fan of LoTR, when I would see a highly recommended shop that carried something like that, I would always investigate. For...

***What Are You Smoking, September, 2023?***

Enjoying the fall chill with a cup of coffee, dogs running around, and some CRF w/ Perique in MM Dagner Poker. This stuff is an extremely good blend:

    Peterson 2023 Christmas Pipe

The only thing I have an issue with "The Brand" is you end up paying a premium for the name alone.

    Bent or Straight Stem?

Agree with the above I find that bent pipes are easier to clench on a weight vs weight basis. Obviously a Devil Anse style straight stem or similar size is easy, but the further the bowl is away from your mouth, the more difficult it can be to clench, if you are a clencher. Also, straight...

    How Many In Your Rotation...

I’m guilty of always having to open a new blend when I receive it so, more mason jars than I’d like to admit. If I had to guess, I probably have around 15 that are in jars that I smoke on a fairly good rotation. Chances are it’s probably closer to 20, but doing this helped me realize that...

    Your Opinions on Morta

I would say you are missing out. If you get a carver that knows how to work with morta, its no different than any higher grade briar. Smokes cooler, and doesnt ghost as easily. If someone told me that was the only type of pipe I could have, I would be perfectly fine with it.

Enjoying some Warped Red Hunt in a Boswell Billiard. Coffee on the side while letting the dogs do their morning routes around the yard.

    Your Opinions on Morta

Love my Morta pipes. They smoke just as well as briar to me and there is no discernable flavor or break in taste like some mention. Maybe I was just lucky, but I reach for them just as often as my other pipes. They also do not seem to ghost as easily as briar. This is my favorite that I own:

    The Most Disappointing Tobacco

SG Brown Sugar Flake. To me, its smells amazing from the tin, but the taste is probably one of my least favorite of their entire line up. Glad I didnt go crazy on the latest drop. Extremely underwhelming to the point that the name seems to be vastly misleading to the flavor profile.

    Who Is Your Smoking Pal?

These two are my smoking buddies. (Both Wirehaired Dachshunds) They have Pavlov'd themselves because all I have to do is grab a pipe and walk into the living room and they immediately run to the door and wait  Of course, my wife enjoys sitting out there with me and is a great friend to...

Best Place to Find Estates? Especially a Boswell.

The better questions is, Why NOT? :col: Honestly, its like any other pipe. If you see something you like, you probably want to buy it. They are well made, usually bigger and thicker walled than other pipes, and they hold tobacco. Nothing more special than many others.

Cellaring- How Long is too Long?

Thats a good question. I know for any type of moist tobacco, like snus or other types of chewing tobacco, it recommends this for long storage, but I have heard others state that freezing tobacco causes the cellular structure to rupture from the expanding moisture and can cause the flavors to...
