    Finish coming off?

Most of my pipes are fine, but I experienced something similar with my green Savinelli Arcobaleno. I don't remember how it happened, but I think I was using spit to clean the rim. You can kind of see the wood through the finish now

Things You Hate About Pipe Smoking

The demise of Dunhill Smelly used pipe cleaners (I am too lazy to empty my ashtray more than once a day)

    Undercover Dunhill replacement

The issue is that in the UK the only tobaccos I have found that are strong enough (heavy cigarette smoker here!), which I like the taste of, and which are not fiddly (I don't get along with Irish Flake due to them being flakes), are the Dunhill ones.

    Undercover Dunhill replacement

Does anyone know anything about this 'Dunhill replacement'? https://www.thebackyshop.co.uk/categories/pipe-tobacco-dunhill-pipe-tobacco-replacement

    Bad Draw

I am pleased to say that after breaking in it smokes fine. It went through a phase of things getting stuck a few times per smoke, but it seems that the tar (or whatever) residue has 'lubricated' it so that this no longer happens :)

    Bad Draw

@Dot I always toss the filters :) Now, it seems the pipe is smokeable but still the draw is a lot tighter than on my 4 other pipes of the same model. When drawing on just the stem when it is disassembled, it 'whistles' quite quickly compared to the other ones. Is there anything I can do? My...

    Bad Draw

It works fine now, it seems it was just some extra stubborn pipe cleaner lint

    Bad Draw

I've been trying with several normal pipe cleaners, and nothing. But after using a bristle one, a lot of fluff came out after blowing, so I hope that's it!

    Bad Draw

I was very excited to receive my new Savinelli Fuoco 111KS last week, but trying to smoke it over Easter I was left disappointed. I have a small collection of Savinelli 111s and in my (somewhat limited) experience they all smoke great. However this new one seems to have a very bad draw. It opens...

So What is the Latest on Dunhill?

Is this a US-only, or a worldwide thing? I'm in the UK and would be devastated!

Dunhill My Mixture 965. Oh, My Goodness!

965 and RY are my favourite two tobaccos (in my limited experience)

How to Break in a Brand New Pipe?

Smoke it, and when finished with a bowl loosen the ashes and shake them around a bit before emptying the pipe. Only clean the bowl lightly every few bowls until you start seeing a cake.

    Smoking While Out and About

Thanks, I'll look into wind caps, and glad to hear this is a common issue! I have a stupid question regarding relights. I see there are some holes in the caps. Is it viable to relight through those holes? Or do you have to take it off, light and replace? I guess the latter, since I normally need...

    Smoking While Out and About

Thanks everyone! I isn't so much the number of relights (walking and not concentrating as much as usual probably explains most of that). I am stumped by the reduction in reduction in time to get through a bowl though? Anyway, I'll pay more attention next time I go out for a walk and see how it goes.

    Smoking While Out and About

I am still very much 'in the closet' and have only been smoking my pipe at home so far. Either inside, or on the balcony. When I do that a bowl takes me 25-40 minutes. I pack loose and attempt to smoke slowly, which seems to work with tongue-bite, not needing too many relights etc. I'd like to...

    Less Mess!

As I get more and more into pipe smoking (although I've not managed to cut out cigarettes), I've been a bit put off by how much mess it makes. There is ash and bits of tobacco everywhere. And it seems to happen when I blow through the pipe after finishing smoking, to dislodge bits. Just now I...

    Cake Issues

When finished smoking, loosen all the ash/dottle and shake it around somewhat and then don't clean the bowl too carefully

    Meerschaum-lined pipes

I have a few briars but have become curious about meerschaum ones. However, I cannot find very many in the UK. I like straight billiards, and am not interested in some of the more outlandish meerschaum designs I have seen. Something plain is good for me. The only one I can find is way too small...

A return to The Pipe..& thereby hangs a tale.....

There are several online tobacconists in the UK that deliver. Look them up!
