    Disgusted With Peterson Repair Dept.

I can find a flaw in any pipe by any pipe maker within a few weeks of smoking it. Some minor, often major be it design, finish or engineering. But thats what I love about pipes, its never an exact science.

    Disgusted With Peterson Repair Dept.

I'm a fan of Peterson's because I love their designs, their brand image and because to some extent, cause I'm Irish. I know a bit about the company, have met Tom Palmer a couple of times and have been to the factory. There are some very highly skilled workers who do superb work, there is also...

    Half And Half, First Time

I been a fan of Prince and Carter for years, finally got around to HnH, I love the stuff. It's become a go to blend already. I'm in danger of over indulging with this great OTC blend, even now I'm getting the urge for a bowl. The soft liquor casing, the fruity touch of the VAs, decent nicotine...

The Reason I Picked Up a Pipe...

    I picked up a pipe just after I turned 40. I thought I'm 40 and I still smoke....time for a pipe.

Storing A Pipe on A Rack

The official take these days is bowl down, but many old pipe racks have small holes and it isn't possible to fit the pipe any other way than stem down. For me I not convinced one is better than another. More important is resting the pipe for a few days.

    Stupid ebay...

The only stupid thing about eBay is bidding wars, bid what you want to pay and let it go, you'll save money and your sanity. Top tips, avoid big name brands and search for unsmoked pipes. Loads of bargains still out there.

    Favorite pipe shape ?

The Billiard has been by far the most popular shape for over a hundred years, and that's for a reason. It works superbly well. It will stay the king of the pipes for another century, I suspect.

    Cleaning a Pipe TOO OFTEN?

The main argument against alcohol cleaning is that its a lot of moisture continually being added to the wood, the other is, I'd put it this way, sometimes the second smoke in a pipe you have is often better than the first. And thats without cleaning. The pipe has acquired some flavor from the...

    Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all from Amsterdam. I'm off for a smoke.

My (small...but im just starting) collection

A fine start, my tip with estates is keep cleaning them with rum or whiskey and q-tips inside the bowl after every two or three smokes, it will help the pipe return to a sweeter non-estate taste quicker than just regular cleaning and smoking. This wouldn't really apply to the cob though.

1 month layoff 4 Insurance blood test

Stopping smoking for a month is always a good idea as is having health insurance! It's a win, win.

Does ANYBODY actually like Borkum Riff?

It's a huge global seller, yep it bites and the taste is pretty weak. But the question should be why do so many like it?

    E-cigarettes banned in Boston

I really hate the way nicotine gum is way overpriced, it is great in helping people to quit smoking, it just goes to show how messed up things can get. Governments could be a lot more flexible and creative if they really want to help people. The fact remains most treasury accountants don't...

    My Favorite Smoke so far

Orlik GS in my fav day in day out blend. The first time I tried it I didn't like it at all. Of course there are a few navy VA flakes and blends I also love, but it's such a great thing to find your own blend. I try other blends to enjoy a chance of pace, but the great quest has ended, and that...

    Pipes and Cigars?

I do enjoy a good cigar now and then, moreso in warm weather, but to me a pipe is about smoking tobacco and a cigar is always just a cigar, if that makes sense.

    Pipe Rotation...Be honest

I have about 70 plus, and I smoke about 50 of those regular. To be honest I really couldn't manage with anything less than 25 pipes and I mainly smoke one blend of VA.

    Top 5 Flake Tobaccos

I think most good ones have been mentioned, but I'd add gaw hogs rum flake.
