Austin Bourdo of Pathfinder Pipes on Radio Show of May 27, 2025

It was fun getting to learn the history of the two Comoys in your collection. I’ve enjoyed the walk through it so far. I found Austin on Instagram early last year. He had some great examples of his work on his page. It’s a good combo of classic shapes and some fun free-hand’ish shapes...

Jon David Cole on Radio Show of May 20, 2025

Brian, you seem to get more mail than Santa Claus. Thanks for getting the back log taken care of. There were some very interesting questions. I’m there with ya Jon David, my beard is mostly to cover up my double chin. The beard note is an added bonus. Good to hear the famous Squire blends will...

Kevin Godbee on The Pipes Magazine Radio Show of May 6, 2025

Pipe shows are like Christmas and I don’t just mean there’s a lot of presents. It’s a joyous time where everyone is welcoming, caring, and giving. People are sharing some incredible blends and knowledge out of the goodness of their heart. There’s an air of positivity that’s unmatched. It goes by...

Bo Parker from the Pipe and Tamper Podcast on Radio Show of April 22, 2025

It’s always fun listening to you describe the pipes in your collection. You always mention things I seem to have overlooked or describe things in a way I wouldn’t have thought to. I’ve been listening to Pipe and Tamper, so I’ve gotten to know Bo a little bit. It was good to get to know him a...

Ben Smith of Redeemed Pipes on Radio Show of April 15, 2025

Back to the previous week’s show with Nate King, I fully agree, make yourself approachable. A pipe show is a great place to break out of your shell if you’re not as outspoken because everyone at the show is accepting and interested in talking pipes and tobacco. Ben’s hiking through Europe...

Congratulations to the 2025 Doctors and Masters of Pipes

Congrats Dave! So happy for you, well deserved.

Video Producer and Pipe Smoking Enthusiast Mike Morales on Radio Show of April 1, 2025

I met Mike in the hospitality suite at the Vegas show. Had a really good conversation with him. He’s a great guy and really enthusiastic about the hobby. Fantastic work on the video, made me even more excited for this year’s show. Hope to see him again in October.

Pipe Maker JB Frady on Radio Show of March 11, 2025

Always a good time to hear about your pipe or tobacco experiments. May the bowls of that mixture be enjoyable to the last bowl. Glad to hear JB is still at it carving pipes. Getting advice from Alex Florov must lower the learning curve a lot. Hope JB will be at the Vegas show again in the near...

Jonni Adams and Grey Van Kuilenburg on Radio Show of February 25, 2025

Excited to hear the outcome of the experiment! I saw the pictures of their visit with Tom on Instagram. It was nice getting a more in depth account of it. Tom has been great the few times I’ve briefly met him at the Vegas show. Carvers getting to spend time with him in the shop, that has to be...

Sykes Wilford Discusses Recently Passed Pipe Maker Tokutomi on Radio Show of Feb 4, 2025

Great review of Wacamaw. Sounds like I need to pick up a few tins. Always good to hear from Sykes. He talks about pipe shaping in ways I never would’ve considered myself. An absolute wealth of knowledge and a great guy. Tokotumi was an incredible carver. I really do see his influence of...

Jay Furman on Radio Show of January 14, 2025

It’s been fun getting to know Jay through Pipe and Tamper and Instagram. Fun to learn even more from this interview. I hope to be able to meet him in person at a show one day. Always gotta take the good with the bad. The key is not to linger on either of them because neither will last forever.

Firebird Flake Release Must Be A Success

I’ve been on this site for nearly 15yrs and I can tell you it wasn’t created to be a bitch fest for whiny children.
  14. lordofthepiperings

Firebird Flake Release Must Be A Success

SmokingPipes is a site for collectors, pipe AND tobacco collectors. There are people who collect blends just like there are people who collect pipes. If they made enough for everyone to have a tin then it wouldn’t really be a limited release or be a special blend.

Firebird Flake Release Must Be A Success

These things happen, sites crash. People miss out. I think it’s rather childish to whine and complain about it on a forum or write a negative review on their website. If you’re that annoyed about it contact their customer service. I’m not high and mighty for not having interest in it...

Firebird Flake Release Must Be A Success

This is quite comical to me, everyone all hurt over a small batch selling out fast. It happens often with C&D. Sounds like they did limit it to 10 tins per order to try and let more people have some. A lot of people who buy these small batch releases buy a lot because they want to see what it’s...

Dr. Fred Hanna on Radio Show of January 7, 2025

Always fun to hear from Dr Fred Hanna. Some really interesting new facts since the last time he was on the show. Everything is good in moderation… except pipe collecting, that’s meant to be done in excess.

    Savinelli Bings Favorite

Yeah ribbon cuts tend to be around 45mins in the Bings Favorite for me.

    Savinelli Bings Favorite

It’s the only Savinelli I kept when I thinned the herd years back. For me it’s between 45-75mins depending on the blend. Typically flakes are on the longer end.
