One Tobacco to Rule Them All...

Here is what the other Brazilian fellow answered to my questions: CPF is the Brazilian Social Security Number (we use it a lot here), and CEP is the Zip Code. I can give you a random CPF to use, that shouldn't cause any issues. But you need the CEP for correct delivery. Unfortunately, I...

One Tobacco to Rule Them All...

Just tried to order the Cointreau from fornilho.com. It asks for abbreviations for something...I know not what...no can make happen. Anyone else try ordering from him?

Easy to Find Esoterica During this last Drop?

I was in NYC this past weekend and, as always, stopped in at Barclay Rex. The kindly woman there directed me to the tobacco and then sort of whispered, "a box from Germains arrived today." Cool! She showed me a variety of Germains tins including one Esoterica (Dunbar, I think it was). Great...

    Bulgarian Makers?

So, my youngest is doing a term abroad in Bulgaria and, you know, as part of the educational experience, I want my kid to go pipe shopping...for me. Know of any Bulgarian pipe makers?

    Sutliff Visit?

Business is taking me to Virginia in the spring. Anyone know if the Sutliff factory is open for and welcomes visitors? And any recommended brick and mortar shops in Richmond and surrounds?

    UK: Labour Smoking Ban

Grim thread, this. Surely at base for this decision is the issue of centralized, government run (or not run, as the case may be) healthcare. The government controls it in Blighty so the government gets to call the shots. That is always the problem when government controls things. What drives...

    Most Sought After Unicorns...

For me it was Esoterica Kingsbridge. Wow, got hooked on that one years ago and now... But have been thinking that perhaps we ought to thank our asian friends who pay outrageous prices for various tobaccos (and pipes): are they helping to keep production alive? Is that flourishing market...

    JJ Fox, London. Tuesday 21November.

Might you be able to discuss how you wrangled a visit to the factory? I've always wanted to go but wasn't sure how to go about asking/reserving/bribing.

    Saint-Claude lately?

Anyone been there lately, the past year or so? Just wondering if it is worth the effort to get there. That is, is looks like a lovely village in beautiful mountains but, more importantly, pipes stuff?

    Tobacco Recipe Books

I once saw John David's recipe book from his shop, something the original owners has started and kept. Is that the sort of thing you are thinking about? A compelling idea but surely the issue with any older tobacco blending guides is that most of those tobaccos used are gone/changed. Sad.

Recommendations for Pipe Shops in Paris?

I thought that Tabac à la Civette was poncey and over-rated. Hands down the place to go is Pipe du Nord. It was taken over a few years ago by Marie and she is engaged with pipes and the pipe community. Shop is very nice and has a good vibe. There is a smoking area upstairs but I think you...
