For those of you who are anywhere near Manhattan, The New York City Pipe Club is open to all pipe smokers. We meet on the second Tuesday of the month at Cafe Tabac in Soho. I live in nothern Westchester and it is a joy for me to come and meet with all of the members who frequently bring in rare...

    Marriage advice?

Such great advice already given. Warren, through this year I've read most of your posts, many of them funny, sarcastic and witty. I did not know the other side, the warm and caring guy. Extremely sorry for your loss. Even after 37 years of marriage, (several of them quite rough) I just don't...

    My First Oom Paul

My very first 'favorite' pipe was an Oom Paul. couple of years ago i picked up a Dunhill. The shape and look are terrific, challenge being getting a pipe cleaner through the thing!

OK You Guys - It's All Your Fault (How Am I Doing?)

Jmatt Welcome to the forum Your list of tobacco is very impressive; you just need to work on your pipe collection! There are members here that own 5 pipes, and others who have several thousand. You are an eclectic man I am sensing some great things that are going to come from you Enjoy

Alot of things happened in Chicago, but you were wayyyy toooo busy to come. What do you mean you had to work? Where in heaven's name are your priorities? C'mon, Man!

    Semois Inspiring

Semois--sounds like 'C'est moi" Camelot musical "C'est mois, C'est mois, I'm forced to admit, I'm far too noble to lie" sung by Sir Lancelot to Lady Guinevere. I only know this because I was in a 6th grade play doing Camelot.

Pat You are something else! Weren't we together at Chicago when we smoked this, er, blend? I think the whole table passed the little envelopes with the stuff in it and no one wanted to touch it. Not that there is anything wrong with it...LOL

    New Ruthenberg Comissioned

Tucson I believe that I own that pipe! Just got it from Brian and it smokes very well. The one shown is similar to a group 3 or so in size. A slightly larger one would be perfect, at least for me. Great choice. Good luck

    Barling's Pre-Transition

Dave You are right-this inexpensive pipe has real rim issues, but I really don't care about that. The other pipe I asked him for was not on the sight, a little pricier and in better condition. I bought it 'blind' trusting Marty to do the right thing.

    Barling's Pre-Transition

Thank you all, gentlemen Tim I have had long discussions with some folks who are very knowledgeable in the pipe world. One in particular, a close friend of Marty Pulvers, believes that anything past 1960, well, to put it bluntly, just sucks. He believes that briar that is 20 or so years in...

    Barling's Pre-Transition

In my pursuit of the ancient briar, I have just purchased two estate Barlings, both from Marty Pulvers in California. A well known figure in the pipe community, Marty once owned a nice size shop in San Francisco and then retired to more southern California where he runs his internet business...

Mao I tried a bowl at the Chicago pipe show this year and well, I thought that I may have to throw out my pipe after smoking it. After reading so much about it, it's rarity, the special part of France where it's grown (I think it's France) lets just say it's not for me It's certainly different

I am new, just bought my first pipe, and few questions, thanks!

Gentlemen Welcome to the forums. As far as I'm concerned, your English is terrific. I can only wish I could speak/type a foreign language as well as you guys. The advice given above is excellent. Read all of the sections on the forums, especially the ones to the left of the screen where...

    My BEST smoking pipe

As Agnosticpipe said, I also don't keep any pipes around that don't smoke well. My favorites used to be Dunhills, but my affection for them is slowly waning. Rad Davis Scott Thile Jerry Crawford J and J These four makers are my favorites, so far. Hopefully, I will be adding a Michael Parks...
