    Recent pipe owner

That's a beautifully carved pipe. Definitely an older meer, probably early 1900's, and it appears to be in nice condition. Many of the older meers have cases that show a lot of wear and tear, which is fine as long as the meer is in good shape. It appears yours is in great condition after...

Bought an Estate Worth of Pipes

That's definitely a lot of pipes. If you can clean up the pipes you like and enjoy them for yourself, and move the others along and recoup your money or come out ahead, then it's a win, win! Have fun cleaning/restoring the pipes.

The Amazingly Magical Jar Of Everchanging Tobacco

I've had several jars of "Frankenstein Blends," like this over the years. Some jars last longer than others, because some jars taste pretty good and others not so much so they take a bit longer to smoke through. I also take like blends, (i.e. English/Balkan, Virginia's, etc.) and when I'm...

    Mail Call!

It's been a while since I've smoked this blend as well, though I do have two tins sitting in my cellar, so it may be time to pop one open. When I smoked it last, it quickly became a favorite of mine. I don't recall the specific's of the blend, but I found it to be very enjoyable, and good for...

    Skiff Mixture vs Squadron Leader

Skiff Mixture! Between Squadron Leader, Skiff Mixture, and Perfection, I've found that Skiff Mixture is nearly identical to Early Morning Pipe. EMP and Skiff Mixture are two of my go to tobacco's and I regularly enjoy them in the morning with a cup of coffee. Of the 3 SG blends I would...

The Best Pipe for different Tobaccos

I agree that multiple factors play into this; 1. What you ate and/or are eating. 2. What you are drinking or drank. 3. What you are doing while smoking the pipe. 4. How you prepared your tobacco. 5. How you packed your pipe. 6. ...and yes, what pipe you're smoking said tobacco in will all...

What Are You Listening To - March, 2025

The last week or so I've been reliving my youth (middle school and high school years), and listening to a lot of Grunge bands from the Seattle scene. However, I'm exploring more of the lesser known and obscure bands from the scene outside the major players of the time. Been listening to the...

Looking for a Close Substitute to EMP Match (Sunrise)

Samuel Gawith - Skiff Mixture is closer to EMP than Perfection is to EMP. Don't know how either compare to Sunrise, as I've never tried it, but if you like EMP and Perfection, you'll like Skiff Mixture. Skiff Mixture and EMP are to of my go to tobacco's and they're very similar to one another.

    All Day Smoking Tobacco Recommendations?

My go to blend for the past couple years has been a blend that was created by a former YouTube Pipe Community member, Joffre the Giant, in a tobacco blending contest years ago at Boda Pipes and Cigar in South Carolina. His blend won the contest, and has the worst name for a tobacco ever...

Samuel Gawith Black XX Twist and Dad's Gun Cabinet

I bought a tin of Black XX and Brown No. 4 back in 2016. I've smoked maybe 3 bowls of Brown No. 4 and maybe 5 bowls of Black XX. Both were very strong, and I just couldn't get into them. I've been letting them rest, and I'm hoping with some age on them, they will be more enjoyable. I don't...
