    Stem has to be drilled to accept the correct size filter. A filter pipe can be smoked without a filter but your draw will be more voluminous and could over heat the tobacco so draw more slowly or use a plastic insert. Savinelli makes them I believe. A non-filter pipe cannot be made into a filter...

    Black Colombian no sugar in the morning. Black tea no sugar in the evening. Teas from India and Sri Lanka are very good. No other country's tea compares.

    I made my own version of Paragon and Halcyon. I find it's just as good and way way cheaper. I use it all over the pipes and it makes a deep rich finish and protects from burning the pipe edge too. I suppose mineral oil and wax combo would do that too. Lots of choices.

    Drier is better. I personally roll it like a tube and insert the tube and trim at the top with a very sharp object. I don't always fold and stuff but when I do I use Newminster 400 or Sutliff VA slices. This is my way. Fold stuff methods vary a bit I'm sure...

    No I just go by feel from my pointer finger. I wish I could explain better. I guess it just takes practice. Flakes don't fall like ribbon.

    You could try that. If you use a high enough proof like graves it should evaporate quick enough - quicker than water at least. But still shouldn't be too bad if you don't scrape the wet meerschaum. Meers are carved wet so far as I know. Wet meer makes easy carving.

    I do. But using only a large soft 12 gauge bore swab and very little alcohol. Too much liquid would soften the meer I believe. Let it dry. You can just wipe with a dry cloth. No cake concerns.

    I think it's the pack. Too light or too heavy you'll get burn issues. Try adjusting from lighter to heavier until it goes well.

    Not a fan of the three part pack. I use a continuous pack using one finger to bring tobacco to the chamber in one motion. Hard to describe. I also ream my tobacco air inlets wider than provided. About 4.5 mm or 11/64 and the stem about 3.5mm or 9/64. You might try these articles...
