Canadian Import Advice Help - Tax was 200%!

Are you sure it can be interpreted as 200 cigarettes AND 50 cigars AND 200 grams manufactured tobacco AND 200 tobacco sticks? It’s seems CBSA has reworded it and as before you could bring in (after 48 hours) 50 cigars and 200 grams of manufactured tobacco…It has now been changed to either one...

Canadian Import Advice Help - Tax was 200%!

It appears CBSA has changed the rules slightly…whereas before, after 48 hours you could import duty free 50 cigars AND 200 grams of pipe ( manufactured) tobacco…the new rules state 50 cigars OR 200 grams on pipe ( manufactured) tobacco but not both. Slight nuance that could cost you...

Canadian Import Advice Help - Tax was 200%!

If I return from Cuba with two boxes of 25 Cohiba Robustos, this would cost me about $3,000 Canadian. Would this be filed under the 50 cigar exemption and not be included in the max $800 exemption for 7 days?

I agree, use the cheapest shipping method and be patient. In fact, I’m still getting about 1 order out of 3 coming through without duty. Finding by keeping the order small seems to increase the chances of it coming duty free…

Returning to Canada with Tobacco: Receipts Required?

That’s what I find when travelling down to the States from Canada. Never had a problem with 200 gr being claimed by myself and the wife claiming 200 gr. Caveat, that’s after minimum 48 hours in the States….

Returning to Canada with Tobacco: Receipts Required?

At the tobacco shop in Grimsby, Ontario they had some Capstan at $68 for 50 gram tin! A plain ugly brown tin with the dreaded cancer sticker on it. Oddly enough, unhealthy McDonalds French Fries come with no such warning….

    Cohibas

Agree, going to forego the Cohiba‘s and go with the more reasonable and just as flavourful Partagas D4, Punch Punch and my favorite little smoke the R&J Mille Fleur. All have increased in price but the Cohiba brand has become unpalatable…

    Cohibas

Definitely not anymore. Used to buy boxes of 25 Cohiba Robustos at $8.45/stick. Now at LCDH prices have exploded to $70 to $80! This goes for prices in Cuba also. As a Canadian this puts it at >$100/stick. Even a box of Montecristo #4 used to be $40/box in early 2000’s ….now $400. Forget it. The...

    Quebec Hikes Tobacco Tax Today.

Robbery for sure, and then the ridiculous plain brown packaging as an added insult. I heard in BC that the govt. supplies heroin and needles to addicts for free. Marijuana is sold in candy decorated packages and disguised as gummy bears. Zero logic but wouldn’t expect it any other way with our govt.

Proper Tobacco Shop in Los Angeles...

My daughter and a friend are going to be in Inglewood for a few days in March. Would it be much of a drive for her to go to Tobacco Traders and do some shopping for me. We are up in Canada and it would be great if they could each bring back the 200 grams/ 7 Oz. allowed. I just don’t want her to...

    Quebec Hikes Tobacco Tax Today.

Canadians, from your experience ordering from the US….which is a better choice, order tobacco from SmokingPipes and pay $5 shipping or order from say CupofJoe and pay approx. $20-$25 shipping and handling. In short, if stopped at customs would duty/taxes work out to be the same for either...
