    The Story Teller's Pipe

Yeah; if I had to compare, I’d liken it to RLP-6 with Latakia and some spices like nutmeg, clove etc. I was surprised it had no Latakia?‍♂️ I’ll revisit it when my cold is through. **I couldn’t detect any vanilla; neither taste nor aroma.

    New to this.

It depends upon the flavor profiles you enjoy: Vanilla? Cult Blood Red Moon, Lane 1Q, MAC Baren Vanilla Roll cake, Brigadier Black Bull Run or Waterloo (prior has less Vanilla, later more pronounced). Cherry? Fruit? Liquor? Chocolate? There are almost limitless possibilities. I’d be better to...

    The Story Teller's Pipe

Oh; and Sean told me the composition is Virginia, Burley And Cavendish with Vanilla, Caramel, Berry and Spices. I get hints of Turkish, but it’s either the spices used or my head old throwing that off.?‍♂️

    The Story Teller's Pipe

Sean told me he’ll be releasing an “Oak King” to coincide with the Summer Solstice. It’ll comprise a few Virginia varietals, some dark Fired and a woodsy top essence. He was also surprised at the response to Holly King this year; so he’s promised to adjust the output next year?

What’s The Story With Peterson Tobacco?

Again; I don’t know if the Grafton St shop offered tobacco BEFORE this, only that the first commercial tins I’ve seen rolled out at around the same time as the Sherlock Pipes (which debuted in 1987). My first tin of Sherlock was PURCHASED in 1991.

What’s The Story With Peterson Tobacco?

Unfortunately none of their tins listed a manufacturer, only an origin of manufacture. Ie. Old Dublin is stamped made in Ireland, whereas Sherlock is Made in Belfast (home to both Gallaher and Murray). Whereas other blends sport Made in Europe or Made in Germany. (Where K&K comes into play)...

What’s The Story With Peterson Tobacco?

I’ve a tin of Sherlock from 1991 (this was produced by Gallaher’s or Murray’s.... but my gut tells me the prior, as there’s virtually ZERO twig or stem matter, whereas Murray’s was well known for their tins containing ample amounts of twig/stem bits. Just try a tin of 965; I’ve had dozens from...

What’s The Story With Peterson Tobacco?

Oh; and you forgot Flake, which was originally Dunhill Flake, but now bears Peterson Flake label

What’s The Story With Peterson Tobacco?

    * I’d also add; that I don’t think STG was blender of note until 2014/15(???) Peterson tobacco’s have been around since the late 80’s (at least the commercially available one’s not sure if the old Grafton St shop offered “house” blends).

What’s The Story With Peterson Tobacco?

Peterson has had tobacco produced for them WELL before STG. Gallaher’s Used to produce a few blends (I believe Sherlock Holmes was one) Kohlhasse & Kopp also produced a few (I believe they used to produce 3P’s, Sweet Killarney etc) I believe; though am not positive, that Murray’s also produced...

    SG Skiff Mixture

Nice. Although I LOVE 965; as it’s easily an all day smoke, and quite versatile in that it can be smoked as a light breakfast pipe, or a relaxing after dinner dalliance. I’ve always thought of Skiff as a strictly evening smoke. So 965 is a sweet tea, and Skiff an after dinner aperitif.

    Confusion Regarding Blend Contents

That’s why they differentiate between “Va” and “Straight Va”... to at least mitigate some confusion.

    Beginner Perspective of Peterson's Nightcap

I’ve a feeling what the OP found distasteful was the Perique element. It’s quite bold in Nightcap; and doesn’t have near the proportions of Virginia to offset/mute it versus; say a VaPer like Bullseye Flake.

    Christmas blends

Actually Yuletide is a season; normally 12 days, but not always. While Christmas can be either a “season” (twelve days), OR a specific holiday Dec 25th. But either way, the discussion was of “Christmas”/“Holiday” blends. And my point was CC doesn’t scream “Christmas” to me. It’s a great Virginia...

    Christmas blends

I never considered Christmas Cheer a “Christmas Blend”. It was superb (my favorite was the 2011, followed closely by the 2006. Now their Holiday Spirit.... that screamed Yuletide. (Though I much preferred CC)

    Christmas blends

The nice thing about forums is you can establish trading buddies. You get US blends; they get Euro blends.?

    Christmas blends

We used to have a definitive advantage in premium blends. ?Sadly McClelland closed its doors, and all their collaborations disappeared as well (McCrainie’s, Peretti, Butera blends with McClelland tobacco). We’ve still got Esoterica, but you’ve got Germain’s, K&K, SG, G&H, etc. (Some available...

    Christmas blends

Peterson stopped shipping their alternately title Christmas/Holiday blends to the US in 2015 or 2016. Though they still produced and sold them in Europe. 2019 was the last time they marketed one. (And it was a pleasant enough smoke)

Can’t believe I forgot Boswell’s Christmas Cookie ? (good stuff?)

Dan Tobacco Christmas Blend Sam Gawith Christmas * Though neither available for US retail; you can get them through Estervals.
