    My Favorite Tamper

My favorite looking tamper is Time is Endless by Viktor Yashtylov. I use those tapered bamboo stick ones the most. I like the concave, thin foot with holes. It makes for the best minute adjustments and it’s really easy to scrape out Dottle. They’re like $5 at most. I give away a lot and...

    How much do you cellar?

I’ve got way too much and I don’t know how to off load what I want to. It’s taken up an entire closet now. This need to try everything. Over the least 8 years … 1,000 + tins, 100 + jars and 100 + Mylar bags when jars started taking up too much space. I feel like I need a tobacco license to...

    Merchant Service 1935

I have one and like it a lot. Haven’t smoked it but proportions and lines are nice. I love their Lovat and smoke it regularly. I didn’t plan on liking it as much as I have actually.

My All Time Favorite Pipe Rest Is Done For. Anyone Know Where There Are More or Have One?

Yeah I may do it. I have dozens of rests and this one lasted so long outside and held virtually every pipe from straight to full bent and odd shapes really safely and easy to grab. I have worked with a leather shop in the past but it’s been a while. I’ve been considering it though and have...

My All Time Favorite Pipe Rest Is Done For. Anyone Know Where There Are More or Have One?

Will do and closing this. I don’t post too often. Just replies. Thanks. I’ll delete this if can. Need to search how or mods… delete. Thanks again. - P

My All Time Favorite Pipe Rest Is Done For. Anyone Know Where There Are More or Have One?

So you guys all know how some rests fit some pipes and but not all. When I got this one, it was nothing special and plenty out there for $10. It spent 6 years outside on my patio and lost its shape mostly. I’ve spent too much time searching and aside from $100 for one on a foreign Amazon site...

    Finally Got Myself a Ferndown

Here’s my first I got a few months ago. I’ve got 3 now. Heh. Haven’t tried it yet but looking forward to it. Sorry for green background. I had the stuff all set up when it arrived so used the lighting for a pic for my records. Can’t tell really but it’s a Cumberland stem and I do like the...

    Mylar Pouch Tobacco Storage

I have been using Mylar as a partial storage for several years with no issue. After about 150 jars or so, I didn’t have the room so did my research and tried it. Ken Byron uses Mylar for all his blends so I figured why not try. Takes less space up. I go thick as can but not so thick it can...

Where Is Your Favorite Place To Smoke A Pipe

Can smoke on my patio every day of the year usually and it’s almost always sunny, 65-77° so it’s my spot for sure. Not original but my fave spot.

    Luigi Viprati RIP

First nicer pipe I got and have had many. That’s sad to hear. I was just reading up on him as a refresh the other day.

What Was Your First "I Gotta Buy 5 Pounds of This Stuff!" Tobacco?

Old Gowrie was the first I got more than a lb of. I move around too much with blends to get a ton of one thing often but glad I got that one.

Alternative to Paragon and Halcyon Waxes

Ha. I Sorry for digging up an old thread. I came by this randomly. I made that original thread. I was looking for more Paragon as gifts and found this thread. I formed mine into a block and tried it and not too bad either. I prefer and mostly use Carnauba but I’m always sitting thinking of...

    Comoy’s London Pride 430

I just got one of these in near mint condition. Anyone have a shape name for this? I’ve had a similar stummel before but wondering what it’s called. I’ll be keeping this one for sure. - P sorry for digging and old thread up but not too old. :) I can see how it is a Zulu almost but I’ve had...

Looking for a full bent pipe

I have plenty of full bents but my first one and one I still smoke regularly is the Savinelli 614. It’s just a solid pipe. I’ve got all price ranges and still like that one quite a bit.

    Got a Tom Spanu pipe

I have a few of his pipes and one has become among my 3 favorite smokers now. Nice pipe!

What Dye Can be Used on Briar?

Feibing’s is certainly the go-to. A lot of stains used for guitar making are compatible too and some nice colors like vintage Amber by color tone at StewMac though a bit pricier. Of course I’m sure others have said what you need to know. Good luck with it! - Pete

    Dr. Grabow Experts Please

Here’s some info from over at grabow collector’s forum though it doesn’t go into this type of rustication. I’ve owned 400+ Grabows and many Eldorados. They’re my favorite line overall from the brand. The rustic ones are far more rare than smooth in my experience. Anyway, I often refer to...
