Forget STG/Mac Baren…Something Much Worse Has Happened

They/them scouts. It really rolls off the tongue.

Jim's Updated and Revised SWR Review.

Me neither. The last time I tried Carter Hall it was still sold in pouches at my local grocer. I would pick up a pouch a couple times a month.

Jim's Updated and Revised SWR Review.

Sir Walter Raleigh aromatic seems to have not changed much.

Jim's Updated and Revised SWR Review.

The Lane facility in GA wasn’t closed until 2020 so it’s almost certainly still the old stuff.

Forget STG/Mac Baren…Something Much Worse Has Happened

As long as I can still buy thin mints and samoas, I’m good. I don’t have enough cellared and I’m scared of anti-cookie legislation ruining the cookie hobby.

    P&C 20% Off

I'm debating whether or not to get great deals on 5-10 tins of tobacco that may or may not get shipped in a box the size of a fridge with absolutely no packing materials of any kind.

A Funny Thing Happened With The Post Office!

I thought you were gonna say the funny thing that happened was that your USPS package was delivered to the correct place in a timely manner.

***What Are You Smoking, January 2025?***

Isn’t it being axed in the merger?

Jim's Updated and Revised SWR Review.

This was the only blend I smoked for about a year when I was newer to pipe smoking. I agree that it’s nowhere NEAR what it once was. Fortunately, SWR Aromatic has remained relatively unchanged.

    Golden Age of Signed Meerschaums?

I would highly recommend pipesdepot on eBay. His handle now is meerschaum gallery. He has some of the most affordable high quality meers on the internet and he’s a true gentleman. I would pay close attention to the tenon connection, and I would only buy one that has a permanent, briar-style...

Pegasus in a Savinelli Punto oro. I’ve got the briar bug. I’ve been smoking them more than my meers for the first time in awhile.

American Tobacco Blends Europeans MUST Try.

Due to your tastes, I would recommend: C&D Opening Night - holy grail Virginia flake GLP Windjammer - This one is an incredibly unique, must try flake GLP - Montgomery C&D Bayou Morning Flake - Very perique heavy. 25% I believe. Here are some of my favorite ‘all day’ classic American style...

    Golden Age of Signed Meerschaums?

Ah, fair enough. I wasn’t sure.

    Golden Age of Signed Meerschaums?

As Embers said, Baki did retire. His pipes were only available through AliExpress, a vendor which many weren’t comfortable purchasing from.

    Golden Age of Signed Meerschaums?

I was reading through the WAYS thread awhile back and saw a post from @dottlejockey about his Fikir Baki pipe. He said that he paid around $180 for a new Baki pipe around 2008. Adjusted for inflation that would be like paying $264 today. I’ve also read stories from other member like Briar Lee...

    Cutting Back

If that’s the case, I’d just hold on to the tobacco. To everything, there is a season. Who knows when you might want to come back to it? It’s not like it’ll lose value the longer you sit on it either. Apologies for the misunderstanding.

    The Wisdom of Cellaring

I understand where you’re coming from. The way I look at it, tinned pipe tobacco is the most inexpensive way to enjoy premium tobacco, so I’m still willing to shell out what they cost. I’ve also only been smoking a pipe for 5 years so I never saw the prices you were able to see, so my sticker...

    The Wisdom of Cellaring

I wait for 20% off C&D bulk and pay $35/lb. I usually smoke right around 4 lbs a year so I get a year’s worth of tobacco every time there’s a bulk sale and I pay $140. I have no doubt that in 5-10 years time, people will be wishing they had those prices back.

    The Wisdom of Cellaring

Shakespeare has now told me to buy more tobacco. I’m going to listen.
