Have I Damaged My Pipe In My Early Attempts At Pipe Smoking?

If you keep at it there will be more pipes. Light as instructed above and rim charing will happen much less. If you get a pretty pipe you want to protect its also easier to not over fill the pipe. Fill it and leave like a nickel or two thickness from the rim...maybe a hair more. It will keep...

    Sticks, Balls, And Other Things.

I played baseball very badly. It didnt help that I was 15 before they figured out I needed glasses. They would say, "Keep your eyes on the ball" what ball? :)

    Dunhill Tanshell restoration

It could just be ancient accumulation of oil from handling, wax, dirt, soot...maybe it just needs a good cleaning on the outside. There is just about no telling with a pipe that old. Your profile doesnt have a country or location listed so its hard to suggest a professional

    In Need of Reaming Advice

I always use a knife as well. Ive had no issues with damage. I just take my time. The right knife also helps a lot. mine has a nice curve to it and happens to be just right to reach in pipe bowls whithout buggering up the rim area. I have a real reamer somewhere but I havent seen it since I...

    Leaving Obsidian Oil on Stem

My concern would be if you abandon the pipe for a while. Oil based products can dry messy and leave a thick uneven surface if just slopped on.

    Why are estate pipes ok?

If you stay under 800 in value there shouldn’t be additional tax applied Stingers suck. Just something to gurgle and clean.

    Why are estate pipes ok?

You wont find many filtered pipes in Italy or France...except the French love stingers and some pipes still have them. In the north you will find quite a few. Haddocks in the Netherlands has a lot. There photos are terrible but they have a good stock. Germany is one of the few places you can...

    Why are estate pipes ok?

@Ziller If you like 9mm pipes I suggest shopping in Germany. There are a lot of pipe shops and you will likley find equal if not more 9mm pipes in these shops. Otherwise you have to hunt 9mm options and they can be pretty scarce Please put at least your country on your profile for location.

    Wash mason jars between tobaccos?

The dishwasher is a good idea but I dont always do it. Now if I were putting it away to age I definitely would. Opening a tin for use...some days yes, some days no.

    Smokingpipes.com Barling Sale

The old emblems were flat on the stem. Someone had a wacked out idea to make it stand up Aside from just looking weird it seems to me something to get caught on something else or break.

Nice pipe. The logo doesnt bother me I do especially dislike the modern italian duck. They really ruin the profile of a pipe I also dont like stanwell logos even though they are not raised. Something about them bugs me

    Zippo Pipe Lighters...Opinions Please!

I still love the Duponts I restore. Nothing Ive tried will beat them. However, they are useless (like most butane lighters) in a breeze.

    Things I Found Thrifting

A lot has to do with disposable income. The average French person owns significantly less "Stuff" than the average American. They also tend to use things until they are used up. French have less income, non revolving debt and no access to credit cards. In France there is no such thing as a...

    Mason Jars With a Latch

I think the main thing to remember is that if you use a bail jar it should be one that is designed for legit canning, not one for pretty kitchen storage. The ones above (and the ones I use) are the EU version of canning jars. They have a heavy seal that lasts for years. They are designed for...
