I picked up the Zulu for $35.00 and the Acorn for $40.00. Both are vulcanite stems and are wonderful. I will be keeping an eye out for these older Stanwells. Jason

As the title mentions, I have been smoking a pipe for 16 years now, and have discovered pipe smoking all over again. A coworker/friend of mine got back into pipe smoker after a long hiatus (20 years!!!!) and has taught me a few things: 1) English Blends - I dabbled with a few English blends...

Really like my Stanwell Estate Zulu

I picked up a nice 40s era (or maybe 50s) Stanwell Zulu estate pipe (my first estate). It is such a nice smoke!! I discovered the English-Aromatic transition blends work well in it. I liked the Stanwell so much, I got another Pear/Acorn Stanwell estate pipe I wish to dedicate to English...

Are Any Borkum Riff Pipe Tobacco's Good Brand for A Newbie to Pipe SmokingToTry?

Thanks for that information. I can see why it sells so well, it is a good tobacco. Every time I smoke it, it is like going home. My wife loves it... (now in regards to English blends, she hates those :) ) Jason

Whats the way to store tobacco

Re: the pickle jars Actually, I have extra mason jars never used for anything. I would use those and not the ones I used for pickles. I don't think pickle flavored tobacco would be pleasant (even though I love pickles). :) Jason

Whats the way to store tobacco

I got some jars from Target that you would put flour and sugar in. My tobacco seems to keep very well in there. I have plenty of mason jars from canning pickles.. Never even thought about it using them for some reason. Thanks for the tip guys! Jason

Are Any Borkum Riff Pipe Tobacco's Good Brand for A Newbie to Pipe SmokingToTry?

I recommend finding a good pipe store in your area (if there are any). My first introduction to pipe tobacco was Wilshire from Tinderbox with a nice pipe. I still have my first pipe and I still buy Wilshire. It is a milder aromatic that has a great room note. Jason

    Has Peterson Quality Really Declined?

Yep, that is exactly what my pipe did. I will take it to Tinder Box and see what they say. If I have to send it back to Peterson, so be it. It is a beauty of a pipe. Thanks for the info.. Jason

    Has Peterson Quality Really Declined?

I bought one of the Peterson Christmas pipes last Christmas from Tinderbox. The finish started bubbling. Thinking I was smoking it too hot, I consciously make sure I was not smoking it too hot. Still bubbled in new areas. I was pretty upset about it. I never took it back, but one of the...
