What to check before buying a Peterson?
About drilling-check if it comes out in the middle of the bowl (not close to one side)and as lower to the bottom as possible..Peterson drills a lot of their pipes high which I pass...check the tightness and straightness of the stem ..Many their stems are crooked and leaning to one side..Thats...- NC TX ID pipeman

How Many Bowls In a Tin?
I did a test once..At the beginning I took a 50g tin of Presbyterian mixture and every time I smoked a bowl (different sizes) i put a bar on a tin...it was exactly 16 bars on it when finished -so 16 bowls...usually tin last me 12 days +-.....so 2 tins a month which is about 25 $ a month...- NC TX ID pipeman

yes sir....got a St Patriks 2011 Peterson and nickel never got loose in North Carolina cost or Texas until I bring it to Idaho dry winter and it got loose- NC TX ID pipeman

No Taste out of my Newish Peterson
You are right! couple years ago I bought a second hand high grade Peterson pipe smoked maybe one or two times it was a natural finish spigot pipe and I could not believe how great tasting pipe it is just out of a box...Higher grade Petes are different level of briar and likely lot older wood....- NC TX ID pipeman

Same Peterson Design but One has Deeper Reservoir.
The lower depth drilling is actually better because cleans up easily...as long the stinger is above the bottom of the hole a little bit it is not a problem..I do not see the point returning the pipe if you like it in all other specs...Back then they used to drill pipes deeper...some of mine are...- NC TX ID pipeman

I ve got several Petersons from different time periods drilled differently with shallow or deep wells..No problem here at all...Just call it a variation...or you can drill it deeper yourself if you prefer it that way...- NC TX ID pipeman

Just Opened Pre 1987 Carter Hall
Just found this sealed vintage can of half&half in antique store..I am guessing 20-30 years old???it is made by American tobacco company Richmond,VA...its a steal 19 bucks for 14 OZ...Looking forward to smoke it...- NC TX ID pipeman

Matching Tobacco and Bowl Shapes
i agree...some combination of pipe and tobacco taste extraordinary...once in a while I am so amazed if I find that right combo ....But even if I smoke the right matching combo it tastes differently in different day...I am not sure what causes that-different air pressure,different food eaten that...- NC TX ID pipeman

Thoughts on Smoking Indoors

Peder Jeppesen Pipe Quality

Smoking unfinished bowl next day (or two)

Silicone Wipe Down or Just Go Wax?
I do not put any wax or silicons on my pipes...Just rubbing them down with cloth to make them clean after smokes .There is plenty of natural oils from holding the pipe...The only exception is if I get my new bought pipes restored the pipe guy puts some carnauba wax on them and thats it....I put...- NC TX ID pipeman

We've Gained an Hour of Daylight Since Christmas
