***What Are You Smoking, May 2024?***

Going to have Peterson University Flake in a Rusticated Peterson Giant Bent Billiard Magnum (with a fork-tail “P” stamp) with a P-Lip stem, circa 1974–1983 (Giants with no model numbers from the ’60s are known to exist). It only seems fitting to smoke an Irish pipe while I work on the Bram...

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

Having an Oliva Series O Perfecto, 5.0" x 55 on the porch. It’s overcast today, and thunder just sounded above. But, it’s nice out.

    Dunhill Hedgehog

The patent number suggests this may have been created by Dunhill. I have seen this type of reamer from GBD and ones with tobacconists’s names stamped (but, lacking the “HEDGEHOG” designation). Perhaps, these were knockoffs or were licensed.

    Two Quick Questions.

This would be true of any of the microcrystalline waxes. Get a little daub on your fingertips and apply—rub it in vigourously with your fingertips so that the application is very thin. ( @sablebrush52 is able to get results that he likes with just his fingers working the wax up in temperature...

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

Yes, Wasabi (he’s a long-haired Chihuahua) loves the porch—it may be our favourite part of the house as well. He often patrols the perimeter and sticks his head between the wider gaps to see what’s going on. We nicknamed him “Mr. Kravitz” after the nosey neighbour on Bewitched.

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

The weather lately is so strange—last Wednesday or Thursday, we had a hard freeze warning—it was below freezing. It’s 86⁰ today! Having a Gurkha Widow Maker Gordo, 6.0" x 60 on the porch.

***What Are You Smoking, April 2024?***

It’s still Sunday, so I’m going to have Dan Tobacco Devil’s Holiday in a Sunday Cob Pipes (of Washington, Missouri) Stacked Dublin Churchwarden.

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

It’s still really nice out. We’re going to try to enjoy this while we can. Having a Super-Premium 2nds Perfecto, 4.5" x 60.

Interesting Completed Ebay Auctions - British Pipes

Don’t forget this: “. . . however there is a small tooth bite repair/split in the bit but remains sturdy and should pose no issues as long as the button is not chewed on!”

What Cigar are You Smoking? 2024

Having a Famous Smoke Shop Nicaraguan Factory Selects, 5 5/8" x 60 on the porch. “A Taste of Honey” by Herb Alpert’s Tijuana Brass just finished playing on Susan’s playlist. It’s warm and beautiful today.

    Mastercraft Question

I see a faint “M” before the “PORTED”—I suspect the stamping is just light on the “IM” and it says “IMPORTED BRIAR.”

    And Your Favourite Cheese Is?

I love so many different cheeses, but two that leap to mind in a specific context: I love bleu cheese on my very rare burgers with a slice of raw onion, lettuce and tomato with ketchup. Epoisses with a nice Sancerre wine is a favourite; the slight acidity and minerality of the wine makes for a...

    What "The Wife" Thinks

I’m very lucky. Susan doesn’t like the smell of cigar smoke in the house, so cigars are relegated to the porch and walks, but she doesn’t mind pipe smoking in the house. She’s very supportive when it comes to pipes; she has bought a Jørn Micke designed pipe from Denmark for me, briar blocks from...

    Captain Black Grape 🍇

Did they unearth a cache of these, or has it quietly returned to production?

***What Are You Smoking, April 2024?***

Watching UFC Fight Night. Having Seattle Pipe Club Hogshead in an Unbranded, Rusticated, Octagonal Paneled Magnum. This 10" behemoth sports a 1.125" wide chamber. It doesn’t quite have the shank curve to be an LC, but it comes close with its overall profile. Being eight-sided, with a huge...

***What Are You Smoking, April 2024?***

Back on September 2nd, 2023, Susan and I took a drive to Boswell’s in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, it was too short notice for any pipe forum members to meet up with us that day. I didn’t find a Boswell pipe that appealed to me at the shop (I recently came across a magnum at...
