My pipe smoking mentor and his wife stopped by last night with another 14 jars of samples (!), a pipe ashtray, a pipe stand, and a tobacco pouch. He also gave me some straight Latakia and straight Perique, so that I can learn to identify them in blends, and therefore make informed choices in the tobaccos I purchase to try.
Later last night, I waxed poetical on FB about how much I loved the Gawith & Hoggarth Dark "A" Blend Flake he'd given me. (I should not have smoked a giant cob of it just before bedtime... however, I regret nothing.) I tell you, I was ready to write a song about experiencing that smoke. "Wuthering Heights" already having been written, I did not make the attempt.
Feeling that I needed to save that sample "for special occasions," I packed some Parson's Blend into a Molina this morning.
Just as I was about to light up, I received a text message advising me to go outside and look on my back stoop.
Lo and behold... a huge jar of Dark "A" Blend is waiting there for me.
There are some truly splendid people in this world, and Matt The Generous is one of them. There are currently 39 varieties of tobacco here for me to sample... and that is in large part due to Matt. I am grateful.
We are in the midst of a snowstorm and it looks like Narnia outside. A good day to relax with a pipe and watch the snowflakes fall. Hoping your day is peaceful, and as blessed as mine has been.
