On the Fourth Day Of Christmas... Persevering with the Rattray's Sterling Flake, this time in a Kiplay bent briar with horn stem and orific bit. Yes, quite a decent smoke, predominant toffee notes under a citrus tang, more than enough nictone to remind you you've had a smoke, but I find myself thinking: it doesn't ring your joy bells, matey, life is short, you can do better than this so just jar the rest of that stuff and slice up some Dark Plug - and so I shall. The year turns, so I've been sowing early Lyon Prizetaker leeks, Black Crimean tomatoes and Bedfordshire Champion onions. It's just a couple of degrees above freezing in the greenhouse, and I'm perished. Warming up by the stove with some Kraken rum.

Greetings, gentlemen! Bizarre weather here in the Midwest. Yesterday a high of 40° Fahrenheit. Today a predicted high of 62°. Tomorrow a predicted high of 29°.

Having a bowl of Murray's era Durbar, which means this tin is 20+ years old. It has aged beautifully and is one of my all-time favorites. The pipe: a Chheda Liverpool. A pot of Harney and Sons English Breakfast on the side.

HU Edward G in a Peterson Sportsman 87, letting out the horses and the ladies.

I had higher hopes for this blend-it’s in the neighborhood, but just misses the mark with me.

Mix 45/45with Directors Cut then 10 % Perique. IMHO a very good mixture. This is a mixture from Forum member @ Sigmund and he call it HU Delight. I have a jar that has been aging for almost two years. 2026 will be time to try it.

Perhaps, but I may just swap what I’ve got out for something I know I like.
Or it can join the ranks of many others and live in a jar with a backup tin aging…or get gifted, or my tastes will change, or… 😆
