I can't afford to build a cave a mile below my house, so I just go with a plastic bin in my closet.
This guy I've mentioned before, who I've gotten a lot of tobacco from over the last couple of years, has decided to quit pipe smoking. Seems his asthma has gotten so bad the doc told him to quit. So, this morning I got a call that went something like this: "I quit! Want to buy everything I have left?" I drove over to his house and came back home with the following.
38 new pouches of H&H
1 quart size Mason Jar of H&H
About 1,000 pipe cleaners
30 new Bic lighters.
3 new small size leather travel cases
21 pipe tools ( some real nice)
New Decatur reaming kit.
A Stanwell No. 32 bulldog barely smoked
A Rossi straight apple, textured, new
A few other nick-nacks.
He said "Give me $100"

I cellar as much as my wife allows me.... 
I thought I had a handle on having a reasonable amount cellared away in the basement, but then I started blending my own, and it looks like I'm back where I started. Time to smoke more, I guess. I am going to guess I have accumulated around 30-35 lbs of tobacco, and a portion has been sitting around long enough to say it has become a cellar.

30-35 is respectable size. It looks like the golden milk cow has run dry. Probably just as well as I figure I have enough tobacco, pipes, cleaners, etc. to last up to 10 years. Only thing is I'll probably have to visit the dollar store and buy some more lighters in a year or two... For these couple of years I've been trying to figure out exactly what was going on with this fellow. For instance... Why would he buy 20 cans of a tobacco "just to try it"? Why would he buy a couple of dozen pipe tools and then never use them? All that tobacco and only a few pipes, most never smoked, why? Where was he getting all this stuff? And why would he sell it off at pennies on the dollar? He never offered any info and I didn't ask any questions so as not to "spook" him. Guess I'll never know the answers. He doubled the size of my stash and for that I'm grateful. I wish him the best.
Five new tins brings me a bit over 9 pounds. But I don’t smoke that much…few times a week (and only one bowl). So I think I’m set until Esoterica is available…
My tastes have changed so much over the years that I now have pounds of tobacco that I rarely smoke.
I guess that could come in handy if or when tobacco becomes illegal or a burden to buy but for now, I don’t cellar. I buy enough for a few months at a time and that’s it.
I suppose if there is ever a “tobacco apocalypse” I would just quit smoking sooner rather than later.

When I started, talk of the tobacocalypse was already there. I flailed around hoarding everything because I like everything I tried (but that vile 1792) AND wanted to hedge against a changing palate. So there were times when P&C would have closeouts that I bought a lot of stuff I never tried. I figured it would always be trading stock as they were tins in the worst-case scenario. And back then, those closeouts were like pretty reasonable. It is how I got 60 tins of OGS that I had never tried. People didn't praise it much at the time, but it has grown in stature so to speak on the forums. lol
It is a good tobacco. Everyone used to talk shit about Mixture 79 too, but it is also really good.On this forum, at least.
Taste is subjective and there are a lot of folks who smoke a host of different blends. Since I get enjoyment from so many blends, I am glad I cellared like i did.
Interesting, I threw out some bulk bignburley last winter that molded as well. I had only bought it maybe 5-6 months prior.
Until I get the forklift repaired, I have no way of getting pallets moved to the scale.
That place must smell phenomenal...
Ever since the door fell off the men’s room, the whole place smells like a urinal cake. STG has bought it all to make 1Q.
I have 25 to 30 lbs cellared of tinned, jarred and bulk baccy. I add almost daily, old blends and new. I've focused less on bulking up but have 2 tins of nearly everything I know plus lbs that were either good value or things I knew I liked. I love collecting so it's an addiction I love to service with tobacco.
If you find a cure that doesn’t involve a 38 caliber or telling the misses let me know.
