Sticking with the Heritage line for now, and the RMC 5 Year Matured Virginia is a standout. Kohlhase & Kopp based this on the classic Dunhill Three Year Matured Virginia, keeping the core recipe intact while extending the aging process. Ribbon cut, loose enough to pack easily. Composition: matured Virginia tobaccos (aged 3–5 years, primarily from Carolina and Zimbabwe sources, giving that grassy-hay base with subtle citrus and dark fruit notes). No toppings or flavors—just straight Virginia. Tin note: musty hay with a light sweet fruit edge (some pick up apricot). In the bowl: grassy and citrusy upfront, earthy undertones, mild sweetness without cloying. Strength 2/5, nicotine low but present. Burns even and cool, no bite, room note tolerable (light hay). Personally, I’m impressed—smooth, balanced, and reliable for daily smoking. TobaccoReviews averages 3.2/4, with most praising the natural Virginia depth and lack of harshness, though a few note Orientals feel more prominent than in the original Dunhill (adding floral spice without overpowering).

No rust.
It's a tin full of plume and deliciousness!
Glad to hear that. I had several aged (10+ years) tins of dark Star with similar visual signals on the inside of the tin. I jarred them. Now I'm thinking I better do the same w/ my Xmas cheer. You are right, the tobacco was ok. The lining was degrading. Not all, just some of the tins, same year. 🤔 Going to crack a 10+ year old ton of cheer for Xmas now....see what it looks like. Kinda bummed I may need to jar them all but...the tobacco is good tobacco and that counts...

Went through a tote filled with extra tins and smelled tobacco. Convinced I had a seal failure I checked them all and came across a SG tin - only rectangular one in there. I pried and pried and pried and it wasn’t coming off. I was still convinced - thought this could have been one with the glue. Nope, it was perfectly sealed - I marked 2019 on the bottom of it so that’s when it went in the cellar.

I guess I’m gonna smoke some aged IMG_6486.jpegIMG_6487.jpegIMG_6488.jpegFiredance Flake now. Smells amazing 🤩
